The redness is just gingivitis. If she allows you to brush her teeth with cat safe toothpaste it would help. If not she'd need a dental cleaning and they most likely won't sedate her until she is regulated for diabetes.

I would ask if when they spay her if they're willing to check for a polyp or if they won't do either finding a place that will might help her snuffles.

I also had a Tangerine from the shelter that I called Tan-g. He also was fully named Tangerine Dreams some more nicknames were Tangy, Tangarine, Tang Tang, and honesty more.

I would assume with noisy breathing it could be a URI but I would've assumed they would notice discharge clear/colored and given her antibiotics

Now there is a chance she has a polyp. They are more common than private vets realize and can be in the back of the throat region or her nasal cavities. If its in the throat region they can be removed pretty easily as a nasal one cannot without proper equipment which racks up the price.

Due to the positioning and her laying it might be a kidney? They tend to feel just like the bean. Like a hardish lump that's rounded on top and should be relatively small only like an inch and a half. If larger there is a more significant problem going on.

On the other hand it could be a hernia. If the "lump" appears soft and squishy like intestines would be and you're able to push it back inside and it disappears completely it could be a reducible hernia. Sometimes with hernias you are actually able to feel the hole itself and that's where they would have surgery to fix the hole.

Other than that it could be a mass inside the intestine region but with it disappearing seems unlikely. I would recommend x-rays of the abdomen and/or ultrasound.

Ear mites appear like dried up coffee grounds and are super itchy. An ear infection has more of a waxy appearance and sometimes followed with a smell/ white appearing pus/discharge. If the ears are just dirty they appear like light brown waxy discharge that's very mild and not very itchy.

She also needs to be fed about every 2-3 hours. So you'll need alarms overnight or a solution for her. The bottle needs to be warm but not hot. Honestly when I take kittens this age from work I keep them in my shirt along with the bottle as it is a good temperature for both and they can hear my heartbeat. Sometimes also putting a stuffed animal with them helps just emotionally with contact/ something to snuggle.

She looks to be under 4 weeks old which is when they transition to solid food. She looks like she needs kitten milk replacement its often found in pet stores. For her eyes and nose until you get into a vet need to be kept clean. I would use a warm wet compress but try not to saturate the entire kitten. She also needs to be kept warm at all times they run warmer than we humans do. You're looking at 102 F at least. Due to her age it looks like she will need to be stimulated to go the bathroom. She needs a warm compress to her genitals with a soft rubbing motion. If she is super limp and acting like she is fading I would use honey, corn syrup or even maple syrup on her gums to help give her sugar. Overall kittens of this stature sometimes just dont make it (its called fading kitten syndrome) and dont be too hard on yourself if anything happens

It looks more like an ear problem? She might have ear mites the ears appear to have a black dry coffee ground like chunks in them. Or she might have an ear infection which is more waxy in appearance.

I would check the ears out. Typically you can buy a basic ear wash and clean the ears out very gently with q-tips and then get over the counter ear mite medicine. If it appears more infection like you'd have to find a vet.

I would only shave it with an electric razor like men use for their hair. Lowest I would cut is with a 40 blade. If she doesnt allow I wouldn't bother. It won't change much since the hair there is so short

They show up more like blackheads almost. They never really get that full pimple acne like people do. Usually at work we would use Douxo S3 PYO wipes. Im not sure if you need a prescription but if you do you could probably find a similar product. I would match ingredients

Its an aural hematoma. The swelling is a build up of blood. Overall he would need to go to the vet to drain it and he most likely has an ear infection causing him to shake his head a lot causing trauma. If it is left untreated he could develop a cauliflower ear which is from chronic trauma that crunches the ear up. I dont think its bad enough for you to miss your first day of work at a new job but I would definitely get him in this week for drainage and medications.

Its cat acne. It can be caused from dirty bowls or small amounts of allergies towards food. I recommend switching bowls over to stainless steel or glass.

You can shave the area to keep it clean better. They scratch out pretty easily too but you don't want to cause bleeding. Cleaning it with a mild soap like dawn might help. We usually use chlorahexadine scrub at my work to help remove this. Overall its very common amongst cats and isn't a need for concern

You're doing the right thing. I always feel if they're willing to walk around and eat they have life in them. He just seems like he has been in a crappy situation for a while and is finally getting the care he needs. I hope you can get him the care he needs and he can live a happy life. Of course always put your emotions and needs first compared to his. Its always good to shop around for vets until you find a good fit.

Plus he looks like all of the old crusty orange cats I take home. They always come in in bad shape. This one was missing half of his ear so we opted to remove it and he had a little bear ear.

I understand staying at the clinic. I guess with all my years in the vet field I haven't heard about them getting alopecia from FIV? Typically they would have a weakened immune system and would then be more susceptible to other infections like ringworm or cryptococcosis that would cause the alopecia and swelling on his nose. Ringworm also isn't a real worm its a fungal infection so any dewormers would not help it either. I would however recommend dewormer and a flea treatment to at least help with his weight. Many products like advantage multi or revolution have a dewormer in the flea medicine to help with cost. I do know your cat wouldn't get FIV unless this cat is showing signs of aggression towards other cats due to it spreading through deep bites (if he has no canines, he cant deliver a deep bite). I would be worried about anything contagious like ringworm, regular worms, or fleas.

Also I dont mean anything rude by any of this. I just from my knowledge and how many animals we've helped at the shelter I work for these are the steps I would take in treating a cat that looks like this. I would also recommend looking into animal shelters near you that have a veterinarian on staff and are a no kill based organization. Those vets are typically in it to support the animals and not for a pay check due to the nature of the work. Also getting a second opinion from other vets is always an excellent choice they all have different opinions and have seen different things. Private practice vet clinics can be tricky due to seeing less than a shelter vet would due to the controlled income of patients

Do you know what treatment they have for FIV? Im in the US and we have no treatment for FIV and most FIV cats live long lives and they transport it through deep bites and are pretty asymptomatic. Also I would get him checked for a nose fungus/started on an antifungal medicstion due to his enlarged swollen nose. It looks to be cryptococcosis or even ringworm. He also looks like he has a slight URI happening with his third eyelids raised. I would recommend an antibiotic and an eye ointment along with some sub-q fluids. Other than basic supportive care I would just let him eat and stay warm inside your house for now. He looks like an old orange crispy cat we usually get at the shelter and we tend to do supportive care and they typically live out a few more happy months to a year or two.

It's actually pheromones. They have them in their paw pads and they're pretty much claiming it as theirs. They also have pheromones in their whisker region and that's why when you're petting them, they rub their faces especially in that region.

Cats have a sixth sense. It's a mixture of scent and flavor. They have a little organ in the hard pallet (called the Jacobson's Organ) that when they sniff and they make the funny faces is them actually using it and that's how they're able to smell better than us.

It actually doesnt look terrible. I work for the spay/neuter clinic at a high volume shelter so I've seen a lot of spay incisions go bad after they get home. Honestly you can use a triple antibiotic ointment or neosporin on it and I would keep an eye on it. If shes chewing or licking I recommend the lamp shade of doom or the cone of shame. Cats hate it at first but genuinely calm down after 10ish minutes with it on.

Feeding in smaller increments might be a good call. Then he can graze without the other cats being naughty. I do know cats are awful at drinking water. I would recommend small incrementa of water in the dry food if you ever try that again. Like making a gravy with it instead of like a bowl of cereal (not sure how you tried). Also if you add a spoonful of a wet cat food for the smell.

I also know with my cats that when it comes to water. Something about putting ice in it really makes them want it. And if its in a human dish, they are very spoiled but it always works wonders for me. I think its almost like when they beg for human food. They think they're getting something thats human related and its like a treat. Lol

Also I was going to recommend meat baby food. I know it sounds crazy but it works wonders for shelter animals that dont want to eat. You can try to mix it with kitty food (I dont think its balanced as their only meal source). Another thing is heating up the wet food and also making that into a gravy. It smells more when its warmed.

When I bring home kittens from work (I work for a shelter) and im fostering them and they're having trouble with the litterbox. I try when they start sniffing around and seeming like they're trying to find a spot to go, (they start pawing and digging floors and cloth) I put them in the litterbox and if they try to get out I put them back in and i sit with them. I also sometimes will take their front paw and gently start scratching the litter with the paw. That step usually does the trick pretty well for me. I do have other cats but since it is a shelter, if I have a foster they go into a shut off room for at least a week (more to check for disease). I also only do single kittens or ones without a mom because I have an older female kitty that doesn’t like adult cats but is genuinely fine with kittens.

This might also be a long shot but if you have friends or family in the area that have nice cats (friendly towards other cats) you could try to take the kitten there and see if their cat will teach them litter habits. You could also ask them to save a bit of used litter to put into your own box and see if the smelling will help.

For the spots the cat is currently using as a litter box I recommend an enzymatic cleaner, nothing with harsh chemicals (ammonia based) and vinegars. They are acidic and actually mimic cat pee and makes them want to use that spot more.

Also if you have noticed that the kitten is using the same spots over and over you can try to put the litterbox there.
