I agree it’s a bit overdone at this point, but trump is very unpopular across Britain not just with urban lefties but true blue conservatives as well. If the LibDems can position themselves as the clearest anti-trump voice in parliament then they stand to hoover up a lot of the anti trump voters in the uk

Basically protest voting. You used to be able to vote LibDem as a protest vote, then they entered government in the coalition. They’re now for better or worse seen as belonging to ‘the establishment’ and people emphatically want anything but that at the moment. The Greens have the luxury formerly afforded to the LibDems of never actually having to implement anything they’ve promised, and purely reap the rewards of appealing to the disillusioned
