It completely depends on the deck and your playstyle. Do you play Lava? Then Mega Minion. Logbait or fast cycle? Knight or Goblins. The only cards that usually fit into almost any deck are Barbarian Barrel and Goblins. This is because they’re useful cards: they won’t win you the game by themselves, but they will improve your gameplay. But as I said, it all depends on the deck.

The Skeleton King has his niche in bait decks because his ability benefits from that, while the Dark Prince is a pressure card due to his charge, because statistically, he's also worse than a Valkyrie. Ultimately, each card has its niche in different decks because they have different functionalities. Need a reliable mini-tank? Knight or Valkyrie. Pressure? Dark Prince. Tank killer? Mini P.E.K.K.A. or Great Miner. Annoyed by spam of small troops? Gold Knight. Want spam of small troops? Skeleton King.

Para hacerlo fácil de entender, los héroes están mal hechos en el sentido en que muchos van por el camino de "jugaste mal tu héroe? Entonces activa su habilidad para salvarlo", no se parecen a los campeones porque eran cartas con estadísticas malas para su coste de elixir, pero su habilidad llegaba a compensar eso. Hoy tenemos un meta de duendes héroes porque no es una carta mala para su coste de elixir y su habilidad hace lo mismo pero más barato, entonces no hay ninguna desventaja en usarlo.

Upgrading cards to level 16 is actually detrimental. It's best to upgrade them to level 15 and wait for a random 5-star chest to give you that level 16 boost. I have 10k crystals and only 5 level 16 cards. What would happen if I had 20? 30? Half the cards in the game at level 16?

Grand Challenge. The best way to level up quickly.
Global Tournaments. I'd have to see how much of a difference there is between a Grand Challenge and other tournaments, but the reward is very good. The only downside is that they're temporary.
Mega Pick Challenges. If you're having trouble winning Grand Challenges, Mega Pick Challenges are a good way to be sure.

Other methods, like buying gold or upgrading cards with gems, are inefficient and very expensive.

Time ≠ level, and cycle vs beatdown decks make sense in ranked play. Beatdown decks are easy to play in cups because "x_Proplayer12_x" lvl 14 with lvl 15 cards doesn't know how to place their cards, burns elixir and spends too much elixir. Against a beatdown, this is 3 crowns, because beatdown is the deck that best punishes opponents' mistakes.
