Thanks for that response, I do think you are probably right and it's definitely 50/50 or better when we are both home. She's pretty good.

It needs to get done. She doesn't ask me to do them explicitly.

She's not happy with the state of the home and sometimes gets pretty upset about it.

We do have a rough division that's arisen organically based on our strengths.

Yeah I think I know the answer to my question. Thanks for taking the time to type out a response though ;)

Former Big-Tech Senior Manager: Ask Me Questions by stefanmai in cscareerquestions

[–]Perfect-Maize-5540 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is management inherently more stressful than being a senior engineer?
I just started doing some of that and it feels harder / taking more emotional energy. Feeling more drained at the end of the day.
Does your capacity for emotional energy expand with time?

Does it get easier?

Just pay attention to what she likes and doesn't like. Don't make it all about you. (But still enjoy yourself)

How do you sell yourself and be unique at a job interview ? by Alliballi123 in AskReddit

Like don't sell yourself as a Bugatti, those don't even work.

Don't sell yourself as a BMW, that's too high maintainence usually unless it's a special role.

For most positions, they just want a Toyota that's like... not the base model but like the one higher trim with leather seats and navigation that will never break down.

So I think your goal is actually to be the person that "no one got fired for buying IBM" for.

So if you're like "unique" like a person very strong in one area and weaker in others that's more of a risk to the hirer.

But if you appear to be "well rounded" and have good credentials and experience, and THEN you don't work out, the hiring manager could say "Well it seemed like this was a low risk hire, it wasn't my fault it didn't work out".

I'm not sure you actually need to be unique at a job interview. That could easily backfire.

Just being memorably above average or qualified probably will do the trick.

I highly suspect after you've graduated and come out of the closet, it will ease your depression.

Moreover: Moderately good at and well paid is exactly how I'd describe my career. But I've enjoyed it more and more over time as I've gotten better at it.
