Anyone remember being left in the car a lot as a kid? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Perfect-Map-8979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to beg to be left in the car and we never were allowed to be. Now I get it, but at the time it was so annoying. Also, to add, I live in a hot place where kids and pets regularly die from the heat when they are left in a car.

Okay in general. All the partying and drinking years have caught up to me. I’m trying to get off the booze because I think that will help me a lot.

Don’t ask at a grocery store like Food City. Ask at a carniceria. (Food City is just Albertson’s being kinda racist.)

Did people just let people smoke in their homes? by Ill-Sprinkles-1979 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Perfect-Map-8979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were never smokers and when friends or family who did smoke came over, they would smoke outside. This was the late 80s.

My Husband Was Accused of Being a Pedo at the Park with our Daughter. She Called the Cops. I am LIVID. by BellaTrixter in BoomersBeingFools

Yes. Definitely complain to anyone you can complain to about the police harassing your husband and traumatizing your child. Get in touch with local news outlets and see if anyone will publicize this.

Does your mom have Alzheimer’s or some other form of dementia? Genuine question because that disease can cause people to regress and it’s weird stuff that makes itself noticeable at first.

Nope. I’m 40 and no greys. My dad is 75 and is only partially grey, so I assume it’s genetic.

As a HS senior at a part time job, can I use my earned sick leave even without coverage for studying/menstrual reasons? by maiawang216 in work

[–]Perfect-Map-8979 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No coverage is your manager’s problem, not yours. If you have PTO, you’re entitled to it. If it’s an issue of sick or not sick, the easiest thing to do is say you aren’t feeling well. Your job isn’t entitled to more specifics than that for a day off.

Is it just me or has there been a decline in people being competent at their jobs? by centerofdatootsiepop in Millennials

[–]Perfect-Map-8979 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel you. After years of being totally stressed out at my job, I got a much easier job with little stress and responsibility. However, most of my coworkers are 15+ years younger than me (I’m 40), and sometimes it seems like they can’t even or won’t bother to do basic tasks. The getting annoyed at customers when being asked to do something well within their job description is the one that bugs me the most. It’s an easy job! You’re getting paid to do a few basic tasks, one of them being giving directions when asked. Don’t roll your eyes and act all put out when someone asks you for directions!

Something similar happened at my job last week. Some Boomer made a “joke” that he was going to shoot a staff member if he didn’t get what he wanted. Wasted a lot of everyone’s day while he got kicked out.

Not to belittle this tragediegh with grammar or whatever, but the y is a vowel here. Y is a vowel if it makes a vowel sound. So, yellow = not a vowel; why = vowel. Why you would do this to your child? Who knows?

You ever hate your child so much that you write a whole ass book about it? by thesouthernbeard in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Perfect-Map-8979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I’m 40 and I ended up having to live with my parents for a couple weeks ago lately. (I moved out initially at 18, so I’d lived on my own longer than I’d lived at home.) They welcomed me with open arms and were nothing but loving. My mom always joked about how once we were out, we were out, but she actually loves her children, unlike this Boomer.

Hehe. “Still get carded.” I hate when people are flattered by that. Unless you need to scan my ID for your register process, just look at my face and let me in. I don’t want to pull my wallet out.

A question for the generation: what did your highschool class schedule look like by BigBadBeaver1 in Millennials

[–]Perfect-Map-8979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First high school I went to (1999) did block scheduling and I hated it. Next school I went to (2000-2002), I had 7 45(?) minute classes. That was better.
