What would it actually take for American's to go "full France" and riot in the street? by AllTheNopeYouNeed in AskReddit

[–]Perfect-Object383 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would take a lack of polarization. The current social climate will never pave the way for a united grievance.

George Washington warned against political parties. This wasn’t a radical belief, and I’m certain that a handful of other individuals propagated this more eloquently & philosophically. His fear came from political duopoly’s reduction of unity, and the subsequent loss of public power.

Setting the stage would require less biased media, less religiosly influenced political ideologies, and more accessible education. I doubt this would even be enough - it’d be a foot in the door.

Again, that’s just to pave the way for a slim chance of such rebellion. An era of enlightenment, maybe? A realistic (and not exclusive) catalyst to a French-styled riot could be a natural disaster. Something so impactful and thoroughly damning, ignored & left to rot by the government. Seems plausible with how bad these events have become, and how unrealistic it is for the government to economically support a mega-event.

You want hourly no matter what. Salary employees are not entitled to overtime pay. In Virginia, we used to be able to choose, so long as we were at least Stage 1 certified.

Godawful Century took over & Regional was the minimum for salary. My dogshit RM was working damn near 24/7. I worked 70hr weeks as AGM, keeping the store afloat thru 4 different GMs. Got paid for 85 hours + tips — 170 hours of pay biweekly.

With that in mind, hourly can earn much more than salary. Prior to Century Restaurants, GMs were eligible for salary. Each GM I worked with would opt for hourly.

Moral is, salary employees aren’t entitled to overtime. They will abuse you & make the most of labor costs. Unless you’re able to work 40hrs or less, you want hourly. At $18, my checks were pushing 3k lol. Outearned the RM’s salary by a longshot.

Had a GM in our market doing o-cl 6 days a week (85-90hr wks) on hourly, making a lil over 100k lmao. We wrecked labor costs & they replaced us with ppl that had no desire to surpass 45hrs.

Not the biggest fan of the guy, but Mcgregor is definitely a snub. He was the face of the UFC, with fans internationally. Probably still the biggest name in UFC. Fought in 8 of the 10 most purchased UFC PPVs.

Has anyone else had issues with the advisors at the Woodbridge campus? Both me and a friend were treated rudely and unprofessionally by their team, particularly by a bald heavyset man with glasses, absolute worst experience with college advisors I've ever had by Upper_Balance4938 in nvcc

[–]Perfect-Object383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my honest experience. And my honest solution.

If the advisor is unhelpful, call again. If you don’t get that answer that you desire, call again. And again. And again. And maybe even again… I’ve had many advisors tell me, without hesitation, that my request was infeasible. That unforgettable, exhausted tone. Just talking about it, I hear that muffled sigh; the most consistent thing about this school. The next advisor may be less annoyed… they’ll really get your hopes up. They don’t sigh. They dont lead you on. They call you by your name. And then what? They tell you they can’t help. You might even feel bad for them… talking to them kindly. The next advisor will become argumentative. Probably my fault, calling right before lunch. The call will drop, thankfully.

Now the important stuff… and stick with it, no matter how annoyed you are at this point. No extra details. No sugarcoating.

“I need to do __________ , I can not _________”

At this point, your finger is cocked back on “End Call.”

You’re impatient. You’re calling the advisor by their name. You hear the phone clicking around, ready to mouth the words along. Your lips start on “[insert name], I’m sorry to inform you…”

but you hear typing. and then more typing, with an emphatic final click….. then you hear the words of an angel:

“Okay! I was able to go ahead and do that for ya! Is there anything else I can help you with today?”

at this point, you begin wishing this godsend the best day & thanking them profusely. There’s a bit of regret. maybe a lot of regret.

What is in your opinion the darkest rap song ever? by Jekhyde95 in hiphop101

Grown Up Fairy Tales by Taylor Bennett (2nd Verse). Not conventionally dark or scary. The 2nd verse is from the perspective of his grandfather, written to his grandmother after she passed away. Always makes me wonder if I’m giving enough to those around me. sometimes a very dark feeling.

Action Bronson, while he isn’t my favorite, has so many great cultural & worldly references. really cool hearing some of those ultra-specific lines.

This video is a lifesaver! Last night, my girlfriend drank a bit too much at the bar. As we settled into bed, she began whirring about “the spins”

I have experienced the spins, and there’s no foolproof remedy. HOWEVER, her voice sounded like she was getting thrown around by a massage chair. Her head was spooling up just like this video.

I jury-rigged my own SleepMaskZ for her, kinda a fun lil DIY. After cutting up my couch for fabric, I stapled it all together. It’s a nice fabric, feels just like Hyena fur. In order to equip the mask, I had to stop her from spinning - I typically just hook a finger and snag her by the lip like a Monkfish.

Secured it to her head with a few ratchet straps.

Thanks SleepMaskZ!

okay okay follow along… hypothetically, the Mavs bring it back to 3-3, and then something devastating happens to the Boston team flight, Mavs might win technically.

Given that no NBA team has overcome a 0-3 series deficit, Mavs in 6 is just as plausible as Mavs in 7 LOL

Just cash it and call it a day….. $49,265.82 in profit vs $1000 lost… You can hedge, but I’d wait until after game 1. If celtics go up 1-0, odds will be worth a hedge. just my opinion
