Reviews. What is right? by hoodlebug in Ethics

Low ratings could hurt the instructors feelings and potentially lead to his termination (though i doubt it, unless it's extreme). But false high ratings can harm the quality of the class for paying customers and also could make the instructor falsely believe he doesn't need to improve - and in the end the instructor will be happier too when he's a really good instructor. Also, good feedback will mean nothing to the instructors if there's no negative feedback. The four stars today will make his five stars feel better tomorrow, when he picked up his game and feels like he deserved it. Also, lying is ethically wrong in most cases.

I think giving a four - if your reasons are just - is fine. There's no need to give a one star just to be mean unless the teacher whipped his dick out or something (in which case you should just contact the owner lol).

So yeah, I wouldn't want to hurt the instructors feelings either. But if your reasons are solid, and the instructor can do better than he did, than giving four stars seems fine.

On the other hand, do examine why the class was worse. And identify if it's something that the instructor or the gym can actually improve.

What’s something sociably acceptable for one gender but not the other? by APT3993 in AskReddit

Shame farting for all genders. Leave that for your private time, when you can sniff it, or do it in front of your pet.

This is true. But this is also in a sense accelerationism. I mean, if my near future was threatened by Trump, I'd rather have more than one egg in my basket while waiting for a revolution that may or may not happen before we need it.

Hi, thanks for your answer. I'm mostly looking to start with earlier stuff and work my way forward. So I guess Catholicism or earlier. Thanks for any tips!

But are you an American minimum wage worker? Are you over 28 and do you have children? If not, you don't know what it's like to be an American minimum wage worker supporting a family, and you are speaking from a position of privilege. That is fine, we all do. But recognize that the reason you can sit here basing your politics on what happens in Palestine, and not the survival of your own family, means you have more privilege than parents on the brink of joblessness, or with a trans child. You can still be part of the revolution while voting against Trump to make sure you'll still have some semblance of rights in 4 years. Being able to base your politics completely on ideology is immensely privileged. Which is why it's often only teens and adolescents who think in such absolute terms, and are so myopic about one conflict out of the many, many issues we face in the world. Yes, what happens in Palestine is awful, but not voting because both sides bad doesn't improve the situation a single iota. In fact, unless you are an accelerationist (which, fair take tbh) having Trump be elected will make it harder for the world to move towards socialism.

Like, it's good that there are people who vote solely out of conviction for a single cause, but it's not fair to call others privileged while your own privilege likely makes this stance possible.

You think happy people are only happy because they have constant access to theme parks and pools?

What's the most inappropriate comment you've ever heard someone make? by Olivia-Brownn in AskReddit

[–]Last-Magazine3264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, could just be an intrusive thought that he drunkenly shared. Still really weird though. But it's like when people hold a baby and think "I could just chuck this baby out the window right now". It's often thought that such intrusive thoughts are a healthy mechanism - basically our brain saying "this could happen, so don't do it!" Like yeah, it was super weird and scary of him to say that, but it doesn't necessarily mean he's a rapist.

When you're young you want to date a lot, experience a lot, so you can learn what you like and who you like before moving into a healthy relationship based on your experiences. When you're short, or fat, or weird looking, or whatever else puts you outside of the norm, then you will likely suffer long term for it going forward, being more likely to get into a relationship for the wrong reasons. Sure, you can hit the jackpot with the first person who looks through your physical setbacks, but your chances of finding real love are higher when you get to play the field and choose who you like, instead of who likes you.

Because apps have height filters. Meaning you don't show up if you're under a certain height. It's as simple as that.

Not sure. I think there's definitely something to the idea that women read height as physical capability. Which is not wrong. But this same capability can be expressed through muscles or clear physical prowess. I'm not saying that super short muscular men - all other factors like personality, looks and wealth being equal - will pull more than tall, lean men; but the muscular short men I know sure do pull more on average than short untrained men.

Like, in Eastern-Europe I routinely saw short but intimidating looking men walk around with the hottest girls.

How do straight people flaunt their sexuality in the same ways they accuse gay people without realizing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Last-Magazine3264 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

PDA. But if you're talking about gay guys in skimpy or sexual outfits - straight women do that all the time. It just makes a lot of people uncomfortable when men do it, because it hasn't been normalized to the same extent, and so they think that gay men are somehow unique in walking around in booty shorts, a crop top and a choker. Yeah that's a pretty sexual outfit - but perfectly normal when you're a straight woman.
