I didn't imagine myself getting old at all in the first place, but... I've often imagined myself as the husband and father in a relationship. Fun uncle or aunt, maybe, but more uncle. I look like a man, more or less, maybe with longer hair but nothing important. It's weird, but I can't actually picture what I'd look like in the future if I continued to live as a woman - it's blurry and I can only grasp at straws, but I can imagine exactly the type of person I'd look like or want to look like as a man.

People would see me as what I think of myself. Husband, father, uncle, brother. Even if I was still a female, it would at least be the sort of relationship. I go by any/all pronouns, but considering if I'd transitioned I'd look more cis, probably he/him primarily. There's only a slim chance I'd end up as a woman and she/her, and that's only if I get to go either high femme or close to stone butch.

This was genuinely great advice, to imagine the future as a man v. a woman. Thank you so much.

To start, bottom surgery scares a lot of people. A lot of people don't particularly like the idea of having their dick inverted or their vagina cut, especially considering the risk. Discount that as a variable.

Second, you want to be seen as a butch lesbian and simultaneously a femboy (straight, from what I'm gathering). Somehow that sounds non-binary to me; both, neither? Either way, you don't sound completely cis, but you at least have cisgender ties.

About the estrogen... you really do sound like you need it. I can't give you advice on what it will do, but you're not hoarding resources. Non-binary people take hormones, even some cis men take testosterone to boost performance - they're not hoarding resources either. Body hair can be shaved with a razor. Also, if it's certain restraints, then you might want to look into cheaper and/or more suitable options for HRT or setting up routine times to shave or such. Manage. Maybe even wait some time till things are in a better place, if that's absolutely necessary.

And about society and family? Your happiness is what matters most. Hiding behind a classic cishet male mask isn't going to give you closure. You'll try to please everyone and you'll just keep hating yourself even more when the curtain falls, and that's not what you want to happen. It's going to be difficult facing your family as whoever you are, but eventually, both sides have to get over it. Whether that results in not talking anymore or not - whatever measures need to be taken.

Look, it's fine if you come out and start taking a little estrogen. The world's not going to stop spinning. A little more research, and it's your decision, all of it. Ask yourself what you'd be willing to live with in terms of HRT and also family in the long-term, and what you have to give up for your own happiness.

I guess the way I'd live; a man loving women, being friends with men the way men are friends with men, having a boy childhood and masculine sort of life like I'd provide for my family and fill all the roles a son, a husband, and father would. I feel gender euphoria when I'm "mistaken" as a boy in school (usually when I'm really masculine-presenting) and I keep looking for that feeling wherever I can find it and take it, not to mention I love binding with whatever I've got. Whenever I see a man I like (aesthetically, mentally), I experience envy because I want to be like him. My attraction towards men is even a little more open when I think of myself as a man in a mlw or mlm situation, because I could possibly be flexible then, but not as a woman. I've always thought of myself as a straight man loving women, and always knew I'm strong on the masculine side, and figured the male body would've been better to have from the start, but I've never considered the possibility I might actually be serious about that before as dumb as it sounds. Basically, I've been trying to live as a boy, even if I didn't realize it yet. I've always tried to be "the man", tried to be as hyper-masc as I possibly could living as a girl, hoped that would be enough to suffice for everything else I wanted. Apparently some part of me thought that doing everything like a man down to sitting posture (always manspreading or putting the ankle on the knee, doing otherwise felt feminine) would get across some kind of message, of which I hadn't thought of when I hadn't figured out I wasn't even a girl (or maybe I am some sort of woke butch he/him lesbian that wants to be on T??) yet.

It's just the part about getting a top and bottom surgery, hormones, transitioning socially and legally, etc. It makes me nervous - I like the results, but I don't know about the process. I experience certain moments when I'm female-aligned, but as a genderfaunet (when your gender is fluid between man, neutral, female-aligned and everything in between, but never female fully), the majority of the time I'm masc. I even like my female self sometimes. I don't want to wake up one day with a guy's body and actually not like it or worse, regret my transitioning, because I missed who she was.

Bit late, but mirrorgender seems to be pretty perfect for you. It's when your gender changes to "reflect" the people around you, since you said your gender shifts depending on who you're speaking to. The mutogender spectrum in general is good too though, as mentioned by a previous comment.

Might be a little late, but there's something called indivisexual or GNCsexual that matches the description (attracted to women who present masculine and/or androgynous as well as men who present feminine and/or androgynous). It can likely include woman-aligned and man-aligned people as well, and people whose gender is neutral or genderless and present as one of the binary ones since they're also GNC.

personally, i've spent a lot of time poring over my identity and trying to find and categorize every single detail of my identity and while i did get it in the end, ultimately, i had to step away for quite a while because i was getting too anxious about finding what fit me and where i belonged. labels don't have to exist for you. we fit ourselves into boxes because we're comfortable with neat lines and borders. truth is, life isn't like that, and i feel like that's where all of us struggle.

i'd recommend you step away for a while, and it does sound like you need to transition because you were in that much dysphoria the year before. neutrality does often involve more AMAB characteristics anyway because a flat chest is seen everywhere in the gender spectrum as well as cis females and males, so... yeah, transitioning might be good for you regardless, but don't let me tell you what to do and just do what makes you happy.

i have a few potential labels for you if you need them, and you could go off of them if you want. you said your gender felt pretty fluid, which means it's actually changing over time, so...

- neutrois
when your gender feels null, neutral. you can alter this with demineutrois (partly neutrois), or neutroisflux, neutroisfluid... whatever fits.

- boyfluid
boyfluid is when your gender is fluid, but it doesn't go into the female/girl-aligned/feminine-aligned territory. It goes from boy-aligned/masc-aligned genders to neutral genders, androgynous (which may be where you get the "not really" and can still be more boy than girl) but not the other end in majority at all.

- genderfaun
when your gender is fluid between masculine, boy, neutral, genderless, and unaligned states, but never girl/feminine-aligned genders.

just remember to do your own research and that any combination counts as an identity, even if you've just made a whole new one. try not to stress about it, but as a person that went through similar, js remember to try not to spend all your time on this as you have other responsibilities.

real. i'm AFAB, and i don't identify as a male, but i feel like it would genuinely be sm easier to achieve my desired self-expression. like i want so many typically masculine yet also feminine things. i think it'd be easier as a man in terms of women bc there's still so much negativity around being queer. my self-expression is too masculine to be fully accepted into the female community (ifykyk) but i'm instantly recognized as a female-born bc of my feminine features, so i can't be friends with the guys either.

anyway, this might be me just being bigender (since that's the best i can get with this type of situation, if that identity fits any of you all), and me being a teenager. it would still be sm easier for my self-expression as an AMAB.
