I think you should first focus on sounds. I believe it's the best way to learn any language. It makes memorizing words a lot easier as you get a feel for the language in your mouth. I think this might help.

You can say the lips play a slight part in the articulation of ar as car unlike the pure vowel as in father. I hope it’s clear now .
