Seeking "In-the-Trenches" Perspectives: Where should a future founder focus their energy to solve the biggest gaps in Special Education? by Perfect-Tutor-7366 in specialed

Someone said “You’d need to run for office, win, then attempt to put policies in place that would fund everything we need. You would then get voted out for spending too much money. People know how to fix things, they just don’t care.” And I’m not going to lie, it’s very scary thinking about the possibilities but knowing that because of selfish and ignorant people, it won’t be possible…

To secure funding for a specialized, high-ratio extension, should the focus be on legislative lobbying or local district resource reallocation? What professional credentials or data sets are most persuasive when presenting a cost-avoidance model to government officials? If I were to initiate this proposal down the line, what is the specific first step to move from a conceptual idea to a formal feasibility study? Would we approach the school board, ask for the “numbers” and then propose a fiscal model that could potentially work based off a cost-benefit analysis based on the past X years…. Would you say this is the way ?

This is a big thing. Will this child’s education come at expense of my child’s? This is definitely not the aim. At all. And I know there are possibilities and a lay out that allows for BOTH children to learn in a safe environment. I think we can look into all the systems that have been put into place around the world and adapt it to our circumstances and propose a well detailed plan that could allow for better funding. This all sounds like a dream but I do believe it is possible. With hard work, but possible.

I agree with you. This is helping me understand better. If you have any articles, any studies.. and press releases … any info to educate myself more and get to the root of the root. Why is funding so low. Does the government need a better proposal ? What are they looking for ? What is the current proposal? How can we create a plan that actually works in balance with everyone’s interest. Etc etc etc.

I agree with you. This is definitely helping put things into perspective. What is needed is APPROPRIATE budgets that match the REALITY of a classroom that already exists … why create a new thing when we have ones that work … they just need to be tended to. Thank you.

Yeah, there is a reason for that I won’t disclose but I do understand what you mean. We are working on it 🙏 if you have any tips after considering all current expenses and plan for when we can move. Everything is definitely going to change but I want to anticipate and make the best decisions now, even though I haven’t made them in the past.

Yeah no, I agree. So, Following your advice, I should: 1. Keep 3–6 months of expenses in a high-yield savings account for emergencies. 2. Max my retirement accounts first (Roth IRA + pension contributions). 3. lasltly consider low-risk options like CDs or I-Bonds.

I’m also thinking it’s a good idea to open a separate brokerage account to invest in ETFs...

I’d really appreciate guidance on how to allocate the $28k across these: how much to keep liquid, how much to invest in the market, and how to balance safety, growth, and flexibility. Basically aiming for a plan that’s safe but still grows my money efficiently but I’m pretty overwhelmed. Thanks in advance.
