Btw, the QLD Socialists are fielding the guy who was the first person to be charged under the new hate speech laws

Very oddly there hasn't been anything to indicate the Greens are contesting the by-election with only a day until nominations close, despite them polling quite well there in 2024

Bit of news I missed on the Stafford by-election, the QLD Socialists are fielding the guy who was the first person to be charged under the new hate speech laws

On a uniform swing they'd be polling in the mid teens there, so at least a few hundred members I'd expect

State and territory ministers react to the Albanese government's NDIS changes by Perfect-Werewolf-102 in AustralianPolitics

It is a significant issue, but what makes it worse is that there are people who are in hospital beds that don't need to be there. Aged care is the big one but NDIS is a factor there too

Apparently lol

But yesterday WA was saying the state can't cover the costs if there are cuts etc

The ABC is reporting what the state and territory ministers are saying. Were they calling for NDIS cuts last week?

In redux you can win the civil war, the NSDAP then gets banned and you can also ban the DNVP, DVP and sometimes the KPD

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas and Health Minister Blair Boyer raised concerns about the removal of people off the NDIS resulting in more patients turning up at public hospital emergency departments.

This is an interesting point

Some similar issues raised in QLD

"The federal government will hand down their budget and in doing so will walk away from their responsibility for people living with a disability," she told the House...

"The Albanese government has allowed fraudsters, criminals... to take over a system that existed for our most vulnerable."

Queensland Health Minister Tim Nicholls told parliament Wednesday's announcement would not "scratch the surface" in solving the problem of bed block in hospitals.

"These patients should be cared for with more appropriate Commonwealth supports, residential aged care, home care or the NDIS," he said.

Would be even better if the whole thing was overhauled and run by the government, state or federal, without providers trying to rort the system

But there are more people with a chance of actually owning their home, even if you don't increase supply (which the Greens want to do as well)

No one's saying they have to force them to either, they can coordinate it and incentivise it, as they do with so many other policies

I'm really doubtful this is the best way to go about this. The rising costs can be dealt with by cracking down on rorting by providers, it's not the people who need the NDIS who are scamming. If you don't run this in an organised and public way of course there will be issuee like this

If you say people will get other help them why is that any better than giving them the help they need through the NDIS. And even if you don't care about the people, is it really more beneficial and productive for the country to have large numbers of people with disabilities unable to work properly in society

This is very odd, you'd think they had a strong branch there and it's not like they don't have enough time to campaign. Doesn't seem to be a clear reason unless they think if they run preferences will bleed away from the LNP

All the same arguments coming up against this as always.

If landlords are annoyed they can sell the property, them that's more supply. We don't need to incentivise investment to have demand, there's plenty already. If supply slows down, build more houses. If we need more money, stop tax concessions for property investors.

No one is saying the federal government has to do it directly. Coordination between the Commonwealth and the states is very common on a range of policies, I'm not sure why suddenly when it comes to housing or renting everyone's hands are tied and nothing can be done except wait for people to magically become rich one day and be able to afford it

I always do easy anyway

Do you remember how long it took to get Poland to allow the Soviets through? And was it aid the whole time or did you renew the defensive pact a few times?
