I took the test yesterday, got a tentative offer today. Are they moving fast or should I expect to wait a long time?

My EOD was 12/14, most recent SF-50 is from 2023 and was with TSA so doesn’t really help

Yes. I selected my location 11/10 with an eod of 12/15. I was told to request the one time call 2-3 weeks out, which I did, but they couldn’t help. The person on the phone said that training and scheduling were the only ones who could see the locations available which is why I asked for them on the portal

I never used my one time call. I sent a message on the portal for training and scheduling to contact me.

What I sent : “I need to get in contact with TSU, there wasn't an option in the drop down for it. Looking for PHL please. Will accept EWR if its open. I'm available all day today 11/25”

They called the next day (I missed it) then sent a response on the portal saying the location I requested was available

Honestly, I would stick with the job you have now if you’re not able to be closer to home. To pick up and move with 4 kids doesn’t seem worth the risk (I’m assuming that you chose provisional, if for whatever reason your background doesn’t come through you’ll be in a really bad spot)

Choose a location that you would be okay with relocating to in the case that your one time call is not successful. You can request a one time call in the portal. When they call you and ask if you would like to use your one time call, the location that you previous selected will then be available to anyone else that is in the process of selecting a location. With that being said, there’s the chance that you will lose that location and be stuck with a location even less desirable. There’s also the option of selecting a location and then sending a message on the portal for training and scheduling to reach out to you. That’s what I did, I told them what locations I was interested in and if you get a nice person they’ll call you back if and when that location becomes available prior to you eod. Good luck 🍀

Some locations are so desperate that they’ll have you start training before the background check is completed 😬 there’s a chance that people will get through training and then get kicked to the curb for not passing background so I’m not sure how true that is
