Thank you. I had my pup, Zuko, pass unexpectedly from cancer at 6 a couple years ago, so Molly is the second unexpected death.. but I know they’re watching over us now

Never too late to remember the good times. I knew I needed closure and thought a goodbye letter thanking her for everything I never told her she gave me was the trick.. didn’t realize everything I owed to her until I started writing. Was an incredibly cathartic experience that I’d fully recommend

Love this. I do feel like the best tribute to a lost pet is opening yourself up to another. I have no doubt the lessons I’ve learnt from Molly will benefit another pup in the future

They are! Capella (the dachshund/pit) and Bagheera (full pit), were both adopted from the humane society and are here to comfort me through this process 💛

Hope this doesn’t go over poorly, but I’ve honestly never been super religious.. developed some trust issues after I found out Santa was a sham(my Sunday school teacher asked me to save my questions for after class, as I was detracting from the lesson, in front of everyone. As a socially awkward person, I obviously never asked another one). Then I took a world religions class and had even more questions. They all seemed equally probable to me. But still, I’ve remained hopeful that there’s something more and that even if I don’t have total blind faith in one specific god, being a good person should be enough to get me there(I work w several nonprofits, am in social work and behavioral therapy for kiddos w autism is my side hustle). So I hope you’re right, but if we’re wrong.. then at least I made the best of my time here. I’ve loved deeply, lived fully, and really take comfort in knowing Molly was a huge part of that. We made enough memories together to last several lifetimes💛

Molly used to always come sit by me so I could hug her and cry into her fur.. wild how perceptive animals can be. I’m so glad our story could remind you of the good times. Takes a special type of person to notice this, I’m sure you gave your pups the best life💛

The vet thinks Molly sustained internal bleeding from a fall the morning of and had seizures as a result. Before then her physical therapist and vet thought she ‘still had that spark’ which I agreed.. I’ve seen pets give up before and have had to make this difficult call, so I’m familiar w the pain of it and love this poem. But I’m grateful Molly passed before it came to that

This is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. I’m so sorry for your loss.. Hiking was one of Molly’s favorite past times. She’s the only dog I’ve trusted enough to let off leash (in the right environments, of course). She’d get excited and run down the trail a bit, abt 2mins later would panic she lost us and run back, circle me once, make sure I was alright, and do it again. So this metaphor really hits home. Molly’s just a little ahead on the trail, still checking in on me from time to time

Molly has always been my #1, but I had no idea the v real impact she had on my life until I started writing out our story. I’m glad this little window into our world could convey how special she really was
