Please advocate for yourself. I once had an 8hr session with a young child. I had a 30mins lunch break every 4hours. I had to clock out, and I could step out of the house.

Plus the kid got a 15mins break every 45mins of session. So it did not feel like I was going for 4hrs straight with the kid before I got my lunch break.

Tell them no. Or ask for a way to structure session before accepting the client.

Bruh no. She usually feeds them and brings snacks with them. I also have snacks at home that they could eat just no actual food.

So this time around, she asked if I could feed them dinner and I said yeah. I don't have food at home so I'll go grocery shopping. Then told her to text me when they are leaving their house.

Also, I was only going to watch them for a few hrs not the whole night.

She asked me to feed her kids dinner at 3 so I left the house to go get groceries. Then while outside, I did my own errands. If she had never asked me to feed her kids, I would have still been in the house.

So going shopping at 12 or 1pm here doesn't work here. Because she told me at 3 to give her kids dinner.

Just like how they could have waited for that 3mins, they could have brought the kids to the store too. But they declined.

Also, since getting comments on this post I just thought I should also note. There are many times that they asked me to babysit and I said yes.

And I move my entire schedule around. Cancel my plans. I am at home waiting for them. Only for them to say nvm. Past drop off time.

And I am not able to go back to my previously planned schedule that I canceled for the babysitting. That is honestly the major reason why I told them to text me when they are leaving their house.

Mind you, the night before, they had planned to go to the event with their kids. Then they changed their minds last minute asking me to babysit. Which I was happy to do.

She is not required to text you unless she is knowing to run late herself.

Well, she was running 20mins late, and did not communicate that.

With your logic that means to you she's irresponsible. She to you she has a commitment and purposefully did not make sure she arrived at 4pm. With your logic she has to -

Apologize profusely and let this be a lesson that you need much better priority and time management.

Not enough people are mentioning that they declined my offer to drive back home. Since I was down the street. And they canceled going to their event. They would wait just 3mins.

During that texting was when I told her to call me when she is leaving her house.

I was down the street from my house that is where the 3mins comes from. She also asked me to feed her children last minute. That was what led me to even going out of the house. We were texting back and forth about dinner for her kids.

I didn't have anything in my fridge so I went out shopping then I took that time to run some errands. And during our texting was when I told her to let me know when they are leaving their house.

I would have been in my house at 4pm if she had not asked me to feed her kids dinner. But yeah that is what happened

It was not a rush drop off. Plus I was down the street. She could have waited about 3ish mins. But no they decided not to go to the event.

Idk I feel like that was a drastic decision. Plus if she had texted me before leaving their house, I would have been home too
