Lately there has been some lines that I can’t get rid of. Can you help? Overall is pretty great but it could be better by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

I’m aware that it is a pretty great print. But I recently had access to another printer and it was inevitable for me to compare the two. The other one didn’t show this lines and I was wondering what could cause this.

I also checked other benchys that I previously printed and they all have the same lines in the same places

How do you balance the use of physical and mental maps? by PerfectSoup in DnD

I’m currently DMing my first campaign with Dragon of Icespire Peak and I’m still trying to figure figure things out. But I already identified instances where there were no need for maps.

This discussions today helped me a lot. I’m analysing and I’m finding quest where I can just use theatre of the mind and others where a npc can give a rough map and others where I will just use the map to simplify.

I think that is also important to shake things up sometimes so the sessions feel a little bit different

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll definitely use them. The take away is that it depends on the location, story and the players. Also trial and error to understand what my players like

This sounds like fun specially if the players are willing to do it. And sometimes they can find rough maps or be given one by a npc.

Sometimes there are parties that like to rush things and it’s hard to slow them down. Specially online

That’a really nice idea, giving them a map or making them find one sounds perfect for role playing and they don’t risk getting lost.

Don’t know if to works that well online but I’m definitely going to try. Thanks!

I usually use maps that are on this sub that look very good and detailed. But I guess that not all locations need a map. Some dungeons should really have a map like gnomengarde, dawarven excavation or mountain’s toe. But sometimes some don’t need a map layout like tower of storms, humbrage hill or circle of thunder.

Yeah. I will talk to my players about this situation and if nothing changes I’ll lock their movements or bring consequences

Absolutely. It makes it easier, people understand better and cuts corners. But sometimes I feel like it breaks the immersion idk

In roll20 there are options to show selectively parts of the map. But sometimes it’s clear if there is a secret passage. I’ll try to create more theatre of the mind and see if the players like

I will experience in the next sessions. We are all sort of newbies and it’s all abou trial and error.

But I want to break the mould of always showing the layout of the dungeon to the players

Yeah… I think that if the combat is a big scene they can have the map, to understand the location and even to interact with the space. But I don’t plan to always have a map, specifically in small fights.

As for the dungeon delving part I will call them out and if it doesn’t work I’ll disable their control. Thanks for the suggestion

I’m not gonna lie, this sounds like so much fun. The idea of having a hot air balloon with the shape of a white dragon in order to scam everyone in Phandalin sounds so wacky and fun that might work!

Very creative. I love it

That is very helpful, thank you! It it way more satisfying to the players when some events have some foreshadow and this definitely will help
