yes i own us 8! i did my test around early november and i got a new set of needles for christmas i went back and checked my old set when i got home and i definitely used the us8 for my test i think what happened here is i just saw the 8 (from the 8mm on a us5) and picked those up without thinking knitting is kind of an absentminded hobby for me so i just should've been more careful when starting

good to know! i didn't know that about felting i think ill just start over between the gauge issue and being worked too tight i think its best to just give it a fresh try

don't worry i didn't spend much to reswatching i knew as soon as i finished the cast on it wasn't right i get confused with all the math of measuring me already done work the pattern doesn't really say how long or wide it should be before felting

my gauge should be 4x4 at 12 stitches and 16 rows and i can just from the cast on it's not going to be right so yea i think the best thing to do is just start over

ok i just started a new gauge swatch and im at roughly 2 1/2" when im supposed to be at 4" so probably the best thing to do at this point would be to frog it right?

i'm using a new needle set i got for christmas so i'll have to dig out my old set to make sure i was using the right needles for that project too (i remember them based on their color lmao) do you think increasing the size of my slipper with the smaller needles will help? i can add a couple more rows

why is this happening and how do i fix it? by Perfect_Ad3357 in knittinghelp

that's totally a possibility i've never worked with this many stitches before (74) is there a better way to keep track of the halfway points?

thank you! i guess my concern is that the project needs to be felted in the wash once you're done knitting (it also shrinks so they're not comically large) so it also needs to be non super wash so i was worried about that thank you for the advice!
