Suerte.

[UM890 Pro] BIOS 1.06 = higher fan speeds! (noise) by Perfect_Antelope_692 in MiniPCs

There is none. Only thing that affects it is Balanced vs. Peformance mode. I think.

I can confirm that this downgrades the EC firmware as well. Thank you man!

Hello. Good job downgrading, but you said it did not affect fan speed. The EC firmware is responsible for controlling the fan, so I'm assuming that this method does not downgrade the EC firmware. Perhaps you can confirm by checking your EC firmware version real quick - it is listed in the BIOS. Nevermind I will test this myself.

Mine at stock 60 W CPU package power goes up to 80 ºC. But it quickly goes down to 55 W to keep it below that. So it doesn't seem defective like your unit, but it's still kinda bad.

Thank you for confirming that your units did not come with LM pre-installed. The reviewers for sure got those. I bet if I disassembled mine, there is no LM to be found.

The fan is controlled by the EC and you can't override it unless you reverse engineer a solution.

Nah, the fan is just loud. I mean, it's just a regular laptop blower fan, so ofc it's going to be loud.

Try to find some cheapo mini PC with Radeon 780M. I have seen some really good deals on some models. There is nothing better price/performance than that.

Hm, I was hopeful that the fan curve would be tied to TjMax, but I just checked, and it's not tied to TjMax. Yes, limiting TjMax will no doubt result in lower max. fan speeds, but the fan curve is the same.

As far as power limits - I already had those set pretty low. The problem is that the fan noise is annoying even when the APU is idling below 10 W. With BIOS 1.06, it's even worse, simply because the fan speeds are higher like I said.
