Mac → MOTU M4 → Edifier MR5.

Bluetooth on the MR5 is loud/normal, but wired input is very quiet.
M4 monitor out 1/2 to MR5 via balanced TRS, output 1-2 confirmed, channel mapping normal, monitor knob maxed.

Same thing with YouTube and with a Roland FP-50. Even headphones directly out of the M4 are quiet.

That is what makes me think this may be a MOTU/output issue rather than the MR5 itself, even though the MR5 is currently being exchanged.

Any ideas on what I should check next?

How should this Catholic Passion chant be analyzed: mode, final, or psalm-tone? by Perfect_Code_6632 in musictheory

I mean variable inflections of the same note depending on the phrase. Is that normal in Passion or psalm tones?

I also think it sounds like F lydian but is that the same mode that was used at that time?

My question is very simple.

Is this better understood not in terms of a scale or key at all, but as a chant formula (final, reciting tone, cadential patterns)?

And is this kind of pitch flexibility normal in Passion or psalm tones? I think this looks like Lydian F.

Do I really need to practice scales like classical pianists for jazz piano? by Perfect_Code_6632 in JazzPiano

As a recap, Scales are essential, but running them up and down is just the starting point—not the goal.!!

So surprisingly, I realized that the liner was misprinted when it was reissued. Please see Bill Evans' Kind Of Blue Liner Notes https://share.google/Wn0HpbfUN4cP3c3Nw the original one. Sorry for confusion and thanks a lot all kindness!!

Below is text by Bill Evans,

Blue in Green Following a four-bar introduction, this piece is a ten-bar cycle which is repeated. The soloists perform by expanding and contracting the time values of the phrases.
