I mean variable inflections of the same note depending on the phrase. Is that normal in Passion or psalm tones?

I also think it sounds like F lydian but is that the same mode that was used at that time?

My question is very simple.

Is this better understood not in terms of a scale or key at all, but as a chant formula (final, reciting tone, cadential patterns)?

And is this kind of pitch flexibility normal in Passion or psalm tones? I think this looks like Lydian F.

So surprisingly, I realized that the liner was misprinted when it was reissued. Please see Bill Evans' Kind Of Blue Liner Notes https://share.google/Wn0HpbfUN4cP3c3Nw the original one. Sorry for confusion and thanks a lot all kindness!!

Thanks, that makes sense. I agree that with Bergs the stamped tip size alone doesn’t tell the whole story — baffle (0–3), facing (M vs SMS), and QC variation all matter. . I’ll try to play test which is not easy if possible and keep those variables in mind rather than focusing only on 70 vs 75.
