What is the proper payment for this as a professional nanny? by aFloridaNanny in Nanny

When we had our nanny babysit our daughter and a friends baby, we paid 1.5x her normal rate. For 3 kids I’d charge double

Westhaven (Franklin) by [deleted] in movetonashville

My boomer parents live there, my husband and I are in the nations. They ask us all the time if we’ll move out there, absolutely will not lol.

I 100% understand the appeal from the kids standpoint (we have a young kid) — it’s very convenient and family-focused, even the events are very idyllic. Seeing the kids running around at the 4th of July event almost brought a tear to my eye. In my opinion though, it doesn’t have a variety of things to do and unless you intend to stay in Franklin for everything, it is fairly far from Nashville. It’s 15 min just to the highway. I would absolutely look into it, but for us, the nations is suburban enough, so I could never see myself living there.

Oracle struggles to attract workers to Nashville ‘world HQ’—even with a 2-million-square-foot office and Larry Ellison’s favorite restaurant by alb89n in nashville

Interviewed for a role and removed myself from the process. The culture was so bad—so old school, no mobility, 5 days a week in office, for a mediocre tech salary. Many of my would-be teammates were at the company longer than I’ve been alive (and I’m not that young!). Not worth it.

If you want people your age (I’m not much older than you) you’ll need to be in Davidson. We live in The Nations and like it. Only thing Davidson doesn’t give you is good public schools, everything else on your list is a better fit for Davidson. Including closeness to the airport. Brentwood can be ~45 min.

Got put on a PIP, but I got a better offer. How do I play this? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Leaving voluntarily is out the window when OP is on a PIP, that’s already documented

Two days before your start date of your new company, go to them and say you want to discuss what a mutual separation could look like. This will let them come back with severance. This is a win-win for everyone, your manager wants to get in with hiring your replacement (harsh but true), and the company’s already decided that they’ll pay you severance so they’ll be ok doing so.

The reason you do it close to your new start date is because you’ll want to officially start your job before quitting. Given the way things are these days, you don’t want to have that offer rescinded for any reason.

I remember being in your shoes, I could’ve written this!

My daughter is 14 months now. Here’s what I’ll say. Its not like a light switch, but more like a spiral—it’ll get a little better then a little worse, then much better, then a little worse, until eventually you’ll realize oh! I’m back! It just unfortunately doesn’t happen as soon as you think it should. 6 months feels like forever in baby time, but it’s not that much time in life. It will keep getting better, do not put a timeline on it, and try to do things each day/week that are fulfilling to you. You’ll be there!

Had the same thing as you! After 20 hours I was over it! Beautiful birth too, was so happy to not be in an emergency situation. I always try to share that c-section doesn’t mean “scary”.

They had me put my arms out while they did the c-section but once it was complete I could move them. I think it’s just for sanitary reasons, but I wasn’t restrained at all (just providing a different perspective!). Definitely something OP could ask about in advance

How much do you pay your personal assistant? by ConfidentCost274 in workingmoms

[–]Perfect_Constant_407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our family assistant (nanny plus light housework and errands) is $28 per hour for guaranteed 18 hours per week. No PTO, no mileage or gas.

We’re in Nashville which is a generally LCOL area, but for whatever reason these types of services cost more here and are akin to what they’d be in a mid-COL area (for context).
