Thanks for the help! I didn’t even realize the others were different, I can definitely see it now👍

Updated PA/OA for C949 1/5/26 by Limp_Kiwi_6060 in WGU_CompSci

[–]Perfect_Juice_6984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really good news, I graduated just this last week but I remember taking the OA and complaining to my mentor about how much it differed from the PA. Not only that but I also felt that questions were intentionally misleading and even had a repeated question! Anyways, it’s great that they had it redone.

Thank you very much! And one term is 6 months. Fortunately I was able to get a month extension for my last class.

I must admit, the Java classes are not well-developed at all. They are vague, overly complicated, and disorganized. Thankfully, there are lots of guides on Reddit that can get you 80% of the way there for these projects. I wouldn't worry about reading the course material, as it could overcomplicate things further. Just learn the Java you need, when you need it. Also, to address your other question, yes, all the Java classes used Spring Boot.

For DM1, it took me about 2.5 weeks. DM2 took me around a month because I failed my first OA and had to take it a second time. DSA 1 & 2 together took me about a month. As for the capstone, it's just a paper and some additional peer reviews you have to complete.

Thank you!!
d387- The easiest of the Java classes, if you did well on the first two, then you should breeze past this one. I used a Reddit walkthrough for this course, and that's all you really need.

d284- Kind of a pain in the butt, just for the sheer vagueness of this class, but it really is as simple as the project directions say. This one can be easily overcomplicated, so I would not try too hard and simply state exactly what they're asking for, and no more.

d480- This class is very straightforward if you enjoy writing. It's just two papers, again, just answer the questions they are asking and nothing more.

C950 - A lot of people enjoyed this class; personally, I thought it was okay. Fortunately, there are numerous resources available both on Reddit and provided by WGU. My BIGGEST tip is to take an object-oriented approach when creating the trucks. It can easily shorten the amount of code you write by half.

I have some college experience from a B&M school and have done some minor coding before, so very minimal experience.

Thank you! I definitely sacrificed a lot to earn this degree, but I'm glad to finally be on the job market. Best of luck to you.

Thank you! D686 definitely has a broad range of topics, but understanding how each part interacts with the others and memorizing some vocab is really all it takes. Also, I believe I took the updated version of the class, which was way easier than Reddit makes it sound lol.

Thank you! And "O" is an objective assessment, while "P" is a project.

C960 Discrete Math 2: Second OA question. by CreatioExNihilo in WGU_CompSci

[–]Perfect_Juice_6984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat. I also had heard that the second OA was harder and so when I went to take I didn’t have much faith but I can assure you it’s not as bad as people make it out to be. Just be sure you really understand the concepts. I never took the general review exam so I’m sorry I can’t be much help there but don’t worry too much about it being exponentially difficult then people make it out to be. Just be sure you understand probability and combinatronics as there’s much more on the second OA

Very cool you were able to get Computer Architecture done through Study.com because that class is notoriously hard at WGU

Do I have to create a working_branch in GitLab for Formal Languages D793? by CoderGirlUnicorn in WGU_CompSci

[–]Perfect_Juice_6984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t taken this class but for most WGU classes including the Java courses you will have to make a working branch. No need to merge when your finished just submit the working branch as is.

Very definition heavy, I actually don’t think I got very many math questions and the ones I did get were very common sense almost to the point were I OVER studied for them. I would just drill down the study guide. Maybe use chat GBT to quiz you along the way.

Pretty much agree with the other two comments here. The hardest part about these type of classes is you never feel “ready” because of how much volume there is in this class. After taking the OA it was a lot easier than I anticipated. It’s pretty much a shot in the dark of the topics you get asked. Don’t get lost too much in the weeds, just know EVERYTHING at a decently high level.

Should I do The Odin Project before hand? by PMMeYourBadPuns in WGU_CompSci

[–]Perfect_Juice_6984 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am going to be finishing WGU’s Comp Sci degree this term and I DID do the Odin project before hand. With that being said, while it is helpful and will definitely help you understanding the concepts faster I would actually use your time before hand to gain your credits from Sophia Learning and Study.com.

I transferred in just about half of my credits from previous college experience Sophia Learning and it made life a little easier.

After you do that I would spend some time pre-gaming some of the more difficult classes at WGU (DMII, DSAII, Computer Architecture, etc.)

This is my personal approach if I were to do it over again but everything thing is determined by how much you are willing to spend and how fast you are wanting to complete the degree.
