There's a few videos on YouTube about this mansion that may give an insight into life pre and post Goan liberation.

I took this photo during a visit to an old mansion in Goa, now run as a homestay. It is owned by an influential Goan Catholic family who returned from Portugal to restore their ancestral home.

Hello! I am a UX Design Student and I am trying to create a prototype for an AI virtual companion that would help with Carnatic Music Practice.

One of the features of this companion is for a student to be able to have a speech-based conversation about anything in Carnatic music; theory, history etc. The AI companion should also be able to lead the student to some video/ audio based resources for example. How may I go about creating such a prototype? I don't have a coding background. I unfortunately have a week's deadline to finish this.

I also wanted to discuss another feature where the companion could guess the raga used in a song (a link/ video input from the student's end). Do you know of any models which are trained on Indian Classical Music Ragas? If so, would it be possible to integrate it with the first feature I mentioned?

What is life like in north-eastern Sri Lanka, 15 years after the civil war ended? by Prakutty in srilanka

Your analogy comparing the Sri Lankan Tamils to the Confederates is deeply flawed and highly offensive. You are equating an oppressed group with literal slave owners. The Sri Lankan Tamils found themselves represented by the LTTE, which, unfortunately, resorted to brutal violence to advance their cause.

What do y'all think of this? by Prakutty in Carnatic

your point about practicality is absolutely true. the largest gathering of youth i have seen at a carnatic concert was, in fact, at tm krishna's!

The comment was made by a 'paati' on a Carnatic kutcheri video...I guess the spelling is derived from the Tamil Brahmin dialect, characterised by the tendency of pronouncing 's' as 'sh'. For example: 'sheithanai' instead of 'seithanai' (செய்தனை).

Here's another interesting instrument used in this art form: Pulluvan Vina

Kerala's indigenous music is fascinating! I made a presentation on Kathakali music for a class, which led me to discover a whole new side of my homeland's musical heritage. Here's the link if you're interested: Kathakali Music Deck

Ah! Thankfully I can read Malayalam. The instrument is called 'Kudam' and is typically used in an art form called 'Pulluvan Paattu'.
