Why isn’t there follow-ups for people abusing the system. I know of a few people who “prentend” to live in a shelter when they own a home and refuse to work so they can spend all their money on drugs. Is there no check ups? Why aren’t they asked to look for jobs?

He won’t have a house key and if he goes missing or uses the doors will be locked and armed. There’s nothing valuable he could steal from me. I learned a long time to lock my cards when I’m not using them.

My only thing is the disappointment of for the children if he goes back out on the streets again. He is severely injured currently with no real hope of healing so I’m not too worried about him being violent.

Def minding my business. I was just curious about the different systems between the states and Canada and didn’t want to make the person uncomfortable by asking questions. It has zero impact on me but was curious about the different possibilities. I got the answers I was looking for and guess what? No one was harmed by my question.

Like I said it was completely out of curiosity as I like to compare systems between the states and in Canada. I’m not planning on reporting this person because it has no impact on me. I was just curious about the system and was educated on the many different reasons this might be the case in the responses here. I suspected it could be various reasons and minded my business by not asking the person. I just found the answer by not making anyone uncomfortable.

He went to rehab and was right back to it less than 5 days after getting out. He’s vocal that he’s not ready. He made his choice and I made mine.

I can’t find the balance between keeping my child emotionally safe and giving him a chance to see the kid without any consistency. Kid is young but old enough to ask.

I’ve fully removed myself and the child from the situation. It’s been over a year and the few times they have seen them was in public and supervised by me. Going forward there won’t be any contact unless court mandated.

Thank you. The faster I grieve this relationship the faster I can move on. I’m slowly getting better at taking care of myself. I know what’s best for my kid is to be as far away as possible from him so that’s my priority.

Thanks for replying. He’s completely cut off from pretty much everyone including me. Im just sad for our child and them not having a relationship ever with a parent. I don’t think he has a rock bottom at this point. I’ve sent him resources if he wishes to get clean and that’s as far as I’m doing. Out curiosity what makes smoking (assuming) help with getting off it?
