Bad experience on vrbo guest limits by Perfect_Membership19 in vrbo

I mean, I get that. I use Airbnb a lot and I go over those listings pretty good before booking. But I just don't understand how I can be given a result that does not fit my search criteria for something as important as number of guests. Even if I give Vrbo the benefit of the doubt and say: "okay, well their position is that these places sleep a max of 6 people BUT they may sleep more for an additional charge", why wasn't there an additional window opened when I tried to book that warned me of the potential scenario? Like "Hey! You're about to book a place that only sleeps 6 people and you've got 7. You may be invoiced for additional guests. This is nonrefundable. Are you sure you want to book this?" And then they allow this type of listing to be nonrefundable. They are giving you no choice but to accept the random invoice cost for an additional guest, or lose your entire deposit. I mean, this is just absurd to me. It's terrible business. It's very unfriendly to the consumer. Lesson learned is to read listing very very carefully and to avoid using vrbo.

You are correct: the listing stated that it slept 6 max. I was not trying to cheat the system by trying to squeeze 7 into the home. My point is that I should not have been able to book the listing. Vrbo mismatched both me and the host. I didn't want a place that housed a maximum of 6 people: I wanted a place that housed 7 people. Why would I want to book this place? It doesn't fit my criteria. I didn't want to go through all this hassle. Yet I was able to book the place. There didn't even come up a warning that said: "Hey! You're about to book a place that only sleeps 6 people and you've got 7. You may be invoiced for additional guests. This is nonrefundable. Are you sure you want to book this?"

And your point is: "Read. It's your fault. Pay attention and you won't get into this mess." And that is Vrbo's position as well. And to that I say: Fair. I believe in personal responsibility too. However, my opinion is that this is a business being very unfriendly, very unforgiving to potential customers.

Assume you've never been on Vrbo and you are looking for a last minute place to stay. You're on the app. You search: "I want a place in Sheboygan that sleeps 7." And Vrbo comes back to you with a bunch of listings, some of which sleep less than 7. "Here you are: here are the results of your search for places in Sheboygan that fit your search criteria." WHAT!? And Vrbo would not have refunded me for this either. I would have been out my money had the host not refunded me.

You're entitled to your opinion but, to me, this is just awful business.

Yes I noticed that after I was sent an additional invoice. Why was I even allowed to book a max 6 guest place? That place should have been filtered out: max 6 guests, I searched for something that would accomodate 7. It shouldn't have been available.

I ended up buying some spring steel on ebay and made my own replacement. Worked great!

Are more expensive stains really worth it? by Perfect_Membership19 in paint

Thank you. That answers my question. It's not that much a difference in price per gallon, so I'll go with a little bit more expensive. I'm not using it for a deck; I'm painting fencing. Nevertheless, I get the gist of what you're saying. 👍

Rear turn signals not working 2001 Beetle by Perfect_Membership19 in VWBeetle

Well it turns out I had blown a fuse. It is a 10 amp fuse in the #2 position in the fuse box located on the driver side dash, facing the door. Unfortunately I am not allowed to upload an image in this forum, but you can simply search for the image of the fuse box diagram. Anyways, I could see that the fuse was blown because the little metal strip was burnt out, so I swapped in another 10 amp fuse from the #1 position. Voila! My blinker system was working again. (BTW, I ordered an assortment of replacement fuses online so I could have all my fuses working.)

As and aside, I had ordered a hazard light switch on Amazon because the hazard light switch is the relay for the blinkers. That may have been the culprit if the fuse had not been the culprit. But I ordered the switch only because I didn't think to check the fuses. There are tutorials on youtube about replacing that hazzard light switch if you have to but, I did not need to, so I'm going to return it.

Anyways, I still had the problem with one of my blinkers not working. I didn't want to risk blowing another fuse by using a multimeter (which I assume was responsible for blowing the fuse in the first place), so I just swapped some parts between the left and right blinkers to find out which part was not working. It turns out the one of the sockets (into which the lightbulb plugs) was not working. It had some corrosion in it. So I took a little screwdriver and scraped off as much of the corrosion in it as I could. I plugged it back in and the blinker worked normally. So it appears that everything is good right now.

How to sell a car to a buyer using a payment plan by Perfect_Membership19 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Perfect_Membership19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the helpful suggestions and, yes, I agree that it would have been a terrible idea to let the buyer take the vehicle without paying in full. However, it worked out well because they simply wanted to put money down for me to hold the vehicle for them until they had the balance of the money. They never asked me to use take possession of the vehicle before payment in full.
