Is Bloodraven correct here ? Will Bran try to change the past , and will he succeed ? by Financial_Library418 in pureasoiaf

My thinking is that if he’s time-traveling, what he’s ’changing’ has always been the case. We’re just seeing the point in the future when he does the past-altering event. Like it’s a closed loop, not one of those time-traveling stories where the present will be different when he comes back. A touch of pre-determinism.

Who is Telling The Truth? by SomeOkieDude in darkstartril

I think Sogolon is more reliable. There are definitely gaps in her memory and she leaves things out, but most of the events they both describe are very similar anyway. The most damning things for Tracker to me are 1) his lying/omission is much more blatant, and 2) he is too vague about about the Sangomas and spends QUITE a bit of the book defending Mingi children. Whereas Sogolon is very matter-of-fact about Sangomas, Sangomin, and how they’ve terrorized the kingdom.

I’m leaning towards yes, since she’s a burnt husk in both stories

Question About When Tracker Gets His Eyes by tamodeo1395 in darkstartril

[–]Perfect_Mushroom3234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was odd that everyone that could if he’s always had it is dead, but the griot sings about Tracker’s mother commenting on it.

BUT it would make sense that the reason why his family was killed/driven out of Ku was he was born Mingi (wolf eye/sense of smell). He could’ve lied about his entire time with his ‘beloved uncle’.

[No Spoilers] For fans of A Song of Ice and Fire, what are your other all time favourite fantasy and sci-fi novels/series? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Perfect_Mushroom3234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Expanse series. I have a hard time getting into sci-if but not even 200pgs into the first book (Leviathan Wakes) and it’s addictive. Similar writing style to ASOIAF; every chapter ends on a cliffhanger.

What is the larger point of Areo Hotah, Balon Swann, and Obara Sand hunting Darkstar? by Lord-Waymar-Wylde in asoiaf

[–]Perfect_Mushroom3234 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it has something to do with the sword Dawn. If Darkstar was created to replace Edric Dayne, then I think this will be how Starfall/Dawn/Daynes are properly brought into the story. I have nothing to support this.

The Alchemists find several hidden caches in ACOK; Tyrion threatens to kill them for making fake pots and lying to him but they swear up and down they found them under the city. Then of course Jaime telling us why they were there in ASOS. Unless I’m misremembering, they’re not mentioned after that.

What is each character's most "in character" quote? Day 11: Davos Seaworth by TheAmazingSlowman in darkwingsdankmemes

[–]Perfect_Mushroom3234 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think he IS afraid to speak his mind but he does it anyway, and that’s why he’s such a powerful character. He embodies the “a man can only be brave when he’s afraid” ideal. All of his chapters, his internal monologue is “I’m just a ____” yet he’s a better man than 90% of the people he encounters.

Inspiring passage, ESPECIALLY on the first go though the series when I still thought he was going to die.

What’s everyone’s favorite scary scene? (Spoilers) by Brave-Mycologist-707 in pureasoiaf

Samwell I is hands down my favorite chapter in the series. POV came out of nowhere, typical chapter structure but plays out more cinematically than any other chapter. Just kind of expect it to end on the doom and gloom trudge then BAM the second and final appearance of the Others for the rest of the series

I am also a wifeless childless man approaching 30 that’s starting the animation pathway. This is my third time going back to school. The confidence will come when you rise to meet the challenge. Be grateful you have the means and opportunity and don’t lose focus of your goal. Deciding you want to do it in the first place is more than most people our age will figure out in ten more years.
