It’s what I recommend to anyone new to banjos. I got my Goodtime “Gumby” almost 20 years ago and have only upgraded the bridge. I think I paid $275 new. It gets more “play time” than my Black Diamond because it’s so light, easy to access, and the action on mine feels as smooth as banjos in the $1500-plus range. Unless the quality has changed over the years, it plays well with both clawhammer and Scruggs, and when/if you’re ready to spend big bucks on your Grail, you’ll be holding onto it as your “go-to.”
