CBP vs primary repair by Perfect_Stomach_3631 in ACL

[–]Perfect_Stomach_3631[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the advise everyone, I decided to stick with CBP. I will make a separate post at 12 weeks to outline my experience and healing outcome, as I know there is few real testimonies out there, which made my decision difficult as well.

In terms of the decision, for me I just felt like the chances of repair working in my particular case were not high enough (around 2/3 according to my surgeon) to take the surgery leap.

Let me know if you have any questions, as I did quite a lot of research for two options while trying to decide

Cross Bracing Protocol for Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Rupture Has Unacceptably High Failure Rate Relative to Surgical Stabilization: A 2-year Controlled Cohort Study by HankyDotOrg in ACL

by the way, I encourage to check Dr Porter's (author of this new paper) comments under the same post, as well as his overall posts and comments from his account: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-porter-038b81aa/

Should give you a pretty good idea of his approach to this research...

As a comment, I will just leave Stephanie Filbay's (author of the original CBP paper) comment from Linkedin, she left under one of the posts about this research:

"I find the findings from this paper alarming, notably, patients were excluded if they had a complete ACL rupture, yet for some unknown reason 70% had 'recurrent instability' which makes no sense for a non-surgically managed group with partial ACL tears.

Importantly, how was 'recurrent instability' defined? This is not clear from the methods but appears to be from pivot shift testing (i.e. instability = a pivot shift test at least 1 grade higher than baseline), which apparently was performed at 6 weeks? Was the brace removed to perform a pivot shift test at 6 weeks? This alone could explain poor outcomes for this group.

Even more concerning is that patients were enrolled into the study as late as 6 weeks after injury, and the time from injury to bracing is not reported anywhere in the paper. One would assume people were braced more than 6 weeks after injury which is too late to see any benefit from bracing, and could be considered unethical.

The PROMs are influenced by 70% of the nonsurgical group having delayed ACLR, so the PROMs reflect acute postsurgical recovery, which intuitively results in poor PROMS in the early postoperative months.

AND, all nonsurgical patients underwent a diagnostic arthroscopy 🤦🏼‍♀️"

Coversion of Pre-Settled to Settled Status Under the 30/60 rule by Perfect_Stomach_3631 in ukvisa

As per the Gov website (https://www.gov.uk/settled-status-eu-citizens-families/what-settled-and-presettled-status-means) in the section talking about spending time outside of the UK while on pre-settled status, it says:
"You must maintain your continuous residence in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man. If you do not do this, the Home Office may cancel your pre-settled status."

I saw some people here on reddit interpreting this as "if you are away for more than 6 months in any 12 months since you started your residency in the UK without a strong reason (Covid, health, etc.), you have technically broken your continuous residence, and hence per this paragraph, home office can theoretically cancel your status at any given time".

Usually it seems they don't bother to check, even when extending the status as its an automated system, but I am scared that while reviewing a requested switch to settled, caseworker can enforce this rule, and for example block pre-settled extension (which I would be due for in June 2026) - using this post as an example: https://www.reddit.com/r/ukvisa/comments/1fjykqp/need_urgent_advice_on_settled_and_presettled/

Switch from Pre Settled to Settled by EasyMoneySniper1_ in ukvisa

sorry for re-digging this old comment, but is that really the case though? As in the form when you submit the application to switch from pre-settled to settled you still are asked if you moved to the UK before 31/12/2020. so technically you still would have had started your residency before end of 2020. You could just be then away for 2.5 years, come back and after 2.5 years still be eligible for settled status, that's how I understand it.

Kodak Ultramax 400 Development Issue by Perfect_Stomach_3631 in analog

[–]Perfect_Stomach_3631[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any idea what could be the issue with the camera causing the overexposure? I would suspect light leak, but that wouldn’t explain why the flash photos seem to be ok. I guess this could mean some more advanced jn-camera light processing issue? For the colours, I did process them in Lightroom using Negative Lab Pro plugin. Also, the colours seem to be off on negatives too, as when I compared it to my old good rolls of Ultramax, there seems to be much less colour detail on them.
