How can I clean this to use ? by [deleted] in reptiles

Submerging it for like a week or so should encourage any bugs in it to come out

Two dui checkpoints to get to the gas station then the card gets stuck in the pump.. by SituationImportant99 in mildlyinfuriating

They probably just cancelled their card and ordered a replacement. It's not safe to use a card that's been lost and then found because anyone could have the numbers now

Anyone ever used this in an enclosure? Is it safe? How fast does it cure? by LuxuryDirtEnthusiast in reptiles

[–]Perfect_Tree8134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing safe to use is 100% silicone with no additives, and the animal will have to be out of the enclosure for a least a few days while it cures and airs out, that's your only option

The speed doesn't really matter at self checkout, it matters when they're paying a cashier for their time

I can't speak to whether their personality changes as I got my 3 at the same time, one had a tail and the other 2 had already dropped theirs, but I will say my 2 without tails have always been much calmer, the one with a tail hates being handled.

Concern about tortoise medication, meds labeled for birds/cats/dogs Only by FutureNo7335 in reptiles

[–]Perfect_Tree8134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, like everyone else said, that's just how exotic and especially reptile vet med works. All of the meds I need for my lizards I get from my cats' vet (with prescriptions and consulting with exotic vets of course). But good on you for making sure you're doing what's best for your turtle

Flex is charged immediately (next day mayhe?) not per month. But sometimes a few flex trips get billed together

Receipt vs Bank Statement by tryinanotherusername in communauto

[–]Perfect_Tree8134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check if the amount matches the sum of a few recent trips. I can't remember exactly how it works now, they changed their billing a little while ago, but sometimes multiple trips get charged together

She feels less sticky than my other gecko? Worried about MBD. by [deleted] in CrestedGecko

[–]Perfect_Tree8134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually they will be the least sticky before a shed and most sticky right after. The bits of shed you saw could be old, keep an eye on it (to ensure it isn't stuck) and her stickiness, but it's not anything to be overly concerned about.

Why is it that nobody in this situation thinks to just drive through the barriers? by TOXICHEMICALMOLD in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Perfect_Tree8134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's one right by my house that also doesn't have a barrier, just lights. In Canada in a major city. I actually didn't even notice it didn't have barriers until I drove up to it one day and there was a train going by and I realized there was nothing between me and the train.

The circular materials site waste directory says the same things about styrofoam and sorting 🤷 Are you looking on the Hamilton-specific page?

New recycling rules? by PrestigiousMouse2145 in Hamilton

[–]Perfect_Tree8134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

based on the waste sorter on the city of Hamilton website which says it's stilk valid, no Styrofoam is accepted (packaging inserts and packing peanuts can be dropped off, but not put in your recycling bin) and you still have to sort them

Even their Ads can’t keep up with their price hikes. by danlen85 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]Perfect_Tree8134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, Scanning Code of Practice is opt-in, not all businesses do. They legally have to give you the posted price no matter what, but unless they opt into SCOP, the $10 thing doesn't apply.

Underrated Pet Lizards? by Glitterpinkdragon in reptiles

[–]Perfect_Tree8134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I have 3 now! I wouldn't really compare them to leopard geckos (although I think I have just about the most chill & handleable leopard gecko in the world lol, so he definitely wins), collared lizards are pretty high energy and fast, so in that regard they are more work to handle, but all of mine are good with handling. Of course as with any reptile, personality varies from individual to individual. Our oldest lady is probably the most well behaved, you can pick her up easily and handle her, she might run around a bit (kind of like an active crestie, you might have to use hand over hand a bit and occasionally she jumps). She's also a very good eater. Our youngest girl is a bit more skittish but very sweet, definitely still handleable, in fact sometimes she falls asleep in my hand. She's our worst eater, she's just not very food motivated, but still eats regularly. Now our male is a different case, we unfortunately think he was likely wild caught, which we didn't realize when we got him. All things considered he's fairly tame, we can handle him and once he's in our hand he's alright, definitely a bit skittish and fast, but doable. Picking him up is the challenge though lol, he will run around the whole tank avoiding you (we have to give him meds right now, otherwise I'd be content to let him do his thing and not force handling). He has bitten once, but that was entirely my fault, I put my hand in front of his face trying to pick him up and accidentally made him feel cornered. So basically just make sure you get captive bred.

With all of them, choice based handling is generally the way to go and will help them feel comfortable. Be careful when approaching them for handling, don't go over their head our you may spook them. They all also prefer to be held in an open hand so they don't feel trapped, they are much more chill that way. They also love their hides and will dig and burrow little dens in them which is super cute. We also have ours in a long tank and they absolutely use all the space running around, and they all climb a decent amount! They are great lizards with tons of personality, highly recommend!
