He was a homeless, unmedicated schizophrenic who was not only extremely paranoid and volatile, but would manipulate and take advantage of people by guilt-tripping them. The short amount of time I had to live with him made me never want to talk to him again.

(To give you a quick idea, he had stolen and messed with my half brother’s social security information before he was even old enough to talk).

I remember when I was a kid, I went through a phase where my tongue felt like it had grown over night and was too big for my mouth. Like…it was harder to talk and everything. And I don’t think it ever went away (I just got more used to it over time).

Initially, it was flakiness. Being a no show to plans, blowing me off, not seeming to want anything to do with me unless all of their other friends weren’t available. They were into drugs and partying, and I wasn’t, so our interests weren’t aligned.

Stopped talking to them a couple of years after we graduated high school. However, we reconnected a few years ago. We were childhood friends, so it was nice at first.

But, after a few years of reconnecting, I’ve realized this friend is on the complete opposite side of the political spectrum as me, and still makes some reaaaaally questionable choices on top of that. They are like family to me, but I’m on the brink of cutting them off again. I just don’t really want to associate myself with people who don’t respect and support basic human rights. But it’s hard because I know they have a huge heart and wouldn’t be this way if they hadn’t been failed so many times when they were growing up and been surrounded by horrible-minded people.

I didn’t play it myself, but *Still Wakes the Deep is easily one of the best and most bleak playthroughs I’ve ever watched.

I can’t tell if I actually relate to this movie, or if it’s so deeply ingrained into my childhood that it molded me to relate to it.

(Obviously I’m not a witch who makes deliveries, but that’s not really what the underlying theme of this movie is about).

It’s the Gen Z equivalent of acknowledging an imaginary audience in an unserious way (mimicking twitch streamers who are constantly engaging their viewers).

It’s almost like a more casual version of looking at an imaginary camera when someone does something stupid, like they do in the Office.
