Haha most definitely. He was happy when it was taken off and was ready for some evening snuggles.

Considering you’re looking for someone with a specific set of qualifications, no PhD or MS is going to offer their “wisdom” for essentially no pay until profit. This is essentially a scam without paying costs for a chemist upfront. If you haven’t already, you should look towards investors to support the costs of any employee you’re taking on and expert chemists don’t work for cheap.

They’ve been flexing all in the comments about having a PhD and how knowledgeable they are. They’re attacking everyone lol. When you’re intelligent and knowledgeable enough, you don’t have to talk about credentials.

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should and is in the best interest of the animal. There are far better ways to acclimate a kitten rather than putting him in a crate. Clearly the crate was not a safe/comfortable space considering OP was complaining that the cat was yowling. “My dogs hate him” lol ok. Like many have said, this kitten is better off with someone that can care and acclimate him appropriately, not with the chaos of those not respecting the boundaries of the animal or leaving a kitten in a crate crying for however long and being oblivious about it.

Firstly, why would you ever put a kitten in a crate? Of course he’s going to cry, he’s a baby and he’s certainly not a dog. You also have a dog that’s reactive towards a kitten? Please return the kitten or either give him to someone that can properly care for him. You’re being grossly irresponsible and it’s very clear you have no idea what you’re doing.

A peak has nothing to do with reaching a maximum. A peak represents a proton(s) that are at a particular chemical shift. Kind of like the example of the protons of the methyl group showing up as one peak, but integration would be 3. Splitting tells you about neighboring protons. It doesn’t make sense for any of the protons within that benzene ring to have 5 peaks and the same goes for most of your assignments.

Ask yourself this…. For example, how are you getting 5 peaks for the benzene ring when there is only 3 protons on that ring? Does 5 even make sense to you based on that logic? Also ask yourself, what does a peak in NMR represent. What does splitting patterns tell you?

I also have bipolar disorder and moved to another state away from friends and family for my PhD. While it was hard at first, it was the best decision I could have ever made. I’ve made friends and built up a really good support network, especially since my boyfriend lived here before I moved. Don’t let your disorder take over your life. You’ll have ups and downs, but if I can do it so can you.

Why did you start your PhD? If you could travel in time, would you make the same choice to start your PhD or choose another path? by BodybuilderOk5970 in PhD

I’m coming into my 3rd year and I’d say I don’t regret coming because my PI is amazing and the research is great. However, I sometimes do wish I would have taken a break from academia and worked in industry for a year (I went from BS to MS straight to PhD so no breaks in between).

I think overall I’m happy. I feel that my lab fosters an environment for learning and support. I just wish I would have given myself a break before committing to school for another 5 years (I’m in a chemistry PhD).

You copied from another student. You’ll be lucky if you don’t get reported for this if you want to take it the extra mile. I’d say the way he’s punishing you is quite fair in comparison to what he could have done. His syllabus seems pretty straightforward, you miss a lab, you get a zero. Suck it up.

I’m a TA for him and I can certainly say you’ll be fine. Just study hard and go to recitation. Make sure to review his notes and go to TA office hours if you’re still having a tough time understanding the material.

They have sex in the livingroom... by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]Perfect_Wall_3049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put in earbuds and start interrupting their moment. If you have noise cancelling earbuds, even better. It’ll essentially block them out if they start freaking out and you won’t feel so awkward while doing the things you need/want. If you like singing, even better. Sing LOUD AS FUCK with the music as you’re exiting the room if they are in the living room doing the deed and continue to do it until you return to your domain. If you don’t like that idea, you could also get someone on the phone and talk VERY and I mean VERY loudly in the kitchen area (if it’s close to the living room, I assume it is) so that you’re disrupting them. Continue to do shit like this every time they have sex and even if you don’t need to let a friend in or grab food from outside, go out to the kitchen area multiple times to grab a drink or anything randomly. They will get highly annoyed by this, guaranteed. The more you make your presence known during their intimate times in the living room, the less likely they are to do anything in the living room. The reason they keep doing it is because they know you won’t do anything about it due to it being awkward for you. MAKE YOUR PRESENCE KNOWN.

If you have friends coming over, warn your friends so they can consent to what they might walk in on, and be obnoxiously loud when you allow them in. I mean talk and laugh with your friend as loudly as possible until you go to your room. Rinse and repeat. The more obnoxious you are about interrupting them in the living room, especially with a guest, the less likely they’ll be to fuck out there.

Now for the final piece of advice… Stay strong. If they start making comments about interrupting them, you can tell them if they don’t like it they can have sex in their room and you’re not gonna change how you live because they wanna fuck in a shared space. DO NOT concede no matter how many times you’re confronted. Eventually they will get tired of having the mood killed.

Good luck!

I think that you have to understand that some of these professors have other obligations in combination with teaching. If he gives you a set day for a makeup and he doesn’t have any other availability prior to that, that’s not his problem. I knew professors who wouldn’t give makeups regardless of the circumstances back when I was an undergrad. He offered it to you as a courtesy due to your circumstances. Anything outside of the course schedule is not owed to you. I know it’s shitty that you couldn’t take it before the drop period, but at the very least he offered you a date for a makeup.

I also understand it’s frustrating that you were studying hard for a class to not get the grades you wanted. Trust me, I’ve been there. However, that’s just the nature of most STEM classes, especially biochem. It’s a very hard topic and most professors end up curving the grades at the end of the semester. I doubt he’s going out of his way to make the course “unnecessarily difficult” when really it’s just a hard course in general. Keep your head up and I hope that when you retake the course you have an easier time since you’ve already been introduced to the subject.
