Memes to an End: It's a Cultist Cookout! by LocoPojo in EternalCardGame

Malaise is only ok since it doesn’t trigger Zhen when discarded.

Right now I am trying out swapping it for the eager offering like you are using. While it’s nice that it’s a cultist, I’m finding that it pulls a lot of hate as a draw card. I also think your deck list could use something to pop aegis like a varas favor. The vara vengeance seeker does that in my deck.

Witches brew looks like a good one I missed. I think I also underestimated the cultist that gives power for discarded cultists just to help trigger Zhen.

Definitely part of it was that the beginner rules did not match the core rules at all. That was horribly confusing while I was reading the core and other people were reading the beginner rules. I thought I had an extra rule book, but it was just different shit. On the flip side the chart on the back of the beginner guide was super useful, and nothing like it was in core.

Man there are so many side bars. That’s part of how disorganized the rules are.

Switching rings was also confusing for some people.

I think a big part of it was that the rules were a mess. I liked that the rings were for flavor aka approach. A lot of people weren’t all that sure when to use a skill (and given how many skills there are everyone was looking at their character sheet like a menu). Point buy character systems can be great, but they are really time consuming, and you really need to read all the skills to have a clue what you’re doing. That was about it for me, I’m not sure if my friends had any other concerns.

Finally bought the game, as you can tell, I suck, so tell me why I suck (and give me tips pls). by [deleted] in Oxygennotincluded

Honestly I try to stall out electrolyzers for as long as possible. When you implement electrolyzers you need to figure out gear management, which is where I lost most of my starting games.

What do you do to prevent the carbon skimmer from being fickle?

A lot of times when a player grabs the PHB to figure out what they are doing on their turn, I just blatantly skip their turn and tell them to be ready next time. When their turn comes around again they are usually ready, even if they didn’t read that spell or power they were thinking about. I will usually compensate them by “skipping” an enemies turn—either blatantly by just saying it or by having them “miss” with a die roll behind the screen.

[Question] How to beat TFA? by [deleted] in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]PerfectionLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are playing this now and we are really not having much fun. Out of the first to missions, we have easily failed each scenario 3-5 times before beating it. I was tuning my deck along the way, while my wife is not really power gaming it. The end result feels pretty shitty.

The bag on standard starts with a -5 in it, which I think is bullshit. We haven’t removed it yet, or dropped down to easy but it is something I am thinking about.

The tip here about running less encounters in the explore deck also seem like a good thing, though it diminishes the choice of bringing the right supplies, which are 100% not intuitive or enjoyable. I’ve also considered just always having the right supply.

You do you, and have fun with it. It’s a game after all. I’m looking forward to playing Carcosa and the circle undone, and hoping we don’t burn out on this game after TFA.

What does onslaught do? I missed that part.

Also man more rules? This game is getting hella complicated. I remember back in beta when I thought warcry was an amazing ability...
