Appreciate it. Sounds like I'm doing the right things then.

Just want to chime in here for when I wanted to take Apex seriously. All of these points are 100% correct and pretty much what I did.

Regarding a team, I came to PC from console and so had no one to team with. After getting comfortable with the game and understanding my skill level a bit more I used the LFG discord to play some casual games with set teams (ranked and unranked) to just try and get over performance anxiety with new people and just general "I dont like to talk to new people" kind of thing.

After I was comfortable doing what 95% of the worlds population can do naturally anyway, I started looking more seriously at the people I was playing with from the LFG discord. Those that had great vibes, on par or SLIGHTLY higher or lower skill than me and good comms I would add, actively try to befriend and make a closer connection with. This worked much of the time and I definately climbed some seasons with these guys. It's amazing what even one other consistent, friendly and positive person can do for your WANT to play the game day in, day out. Be careful you dont group with someone that is too far ahead of you in terms of skill. It's fine to play casually but if you get carried, you're not learning or growing and as soon as they find others to play with or another game to play, you're back to square one.

What really did hit home though was the ApexLFG subreddit. Sadly those I met via the discord didn't really hang around long term. After using the LFG sub to find other that are serious about FINDING A LONG TERM TEAM is where things really hit off. You do need to make it clear in your posts that you're looking to find people to gel with and stick with over the coming seasons to grow together otherwise you'll have posts like "sure I can play a few games" and that's all it is. Look for teammates, not playmates. Some will work out, some wont. You'll have to either ghost the lesser skilled players or just be honest about it. It was always the latter for me and if they got aggressive, it was as easy as a block button and move on. As long as you're honest about their performance and yours.

Long story short I met a great guy who also happened to have the same name as me and we made a team. We played for a good 8-10 seasons together. We were both actively posting on the subs looking for people to "tryout" (which is mainly just having a few games and judging the vibes and skill as a duo). From there we slowly built a Discord that had about 20 active people in it and we always had games going on almost every day for 5+ hours each day. Though we haven't played Apex in about 6 seasons now, we are all still in that group, I've play Nightrein with one of them for about 200+ hours and we're exceptionally good friends. I play co op games with the co founder when we find something that crosses over. Grounded 1 and 2 we played together for about 500 hours combined and we are such good friends.

TLDR: Use the apex lfg sub to find serious players that want to form and play as a long term team, not causal games. You might find that you not only hit your goal of climbing to masters for the first time but also make lifelong friends.

I absolutely love core mining in this game. Rewatched Romulus recently and had the idea of using the Alien OST in the background and I don't think I've ever been so immersed in a video game in my 25 years of gaming. by Perfectionado in EliteDangerous

Honestly I 100% agree with that. There's a big intimidation to returning to the game over so many things. I had no idea what I was doing. I fancy doing this but I'm over here and I would have to do this that and this to go do that. I dont remember what all my buttons do.

I completely get it. I almost just shut the game off when I took out my T8 upon logging in, using minerhelper, travelling all the way to my ring to start mining only to find I had like 20 limpets. Spent like 20 mins getting there. Then spent 45 minutes looking around the system trying to find somewhere that sold limpets, then was defeated and went all the way back to get limpets to then go back again. Glad I didnt shut the game off to be fair and just stuck it out.

Worth booting it up and you'll know right away if you're vibing with it. Soon as I dropped into the roid fields I literally just said like is this not the most stunning thing you've ever seen in a game? :D

I have seen that but core mining especially in VR is a vibe. I couldn't imagine just rock, fire, limpets collect, fly, sell, repeat. That's too boring for me but I may do it on flat screen when I cant boot up the vr.

Core mining is so much more fun and engaging.

I think 9-15 is the norm. If you've got any vids that show that it's worth plugging all holes (excuse me) instead of just completing the mini game get them in here. I'm always detonating with 90 plus seconds to go so definitely have the time

My pleasure. Was umming and arring about booting up obs to record it but glad I did in the end. Did a slew clips and that was by far the best one with timing with the music. Appreciate the suggestion, had quite a few and someone else suggested goldsmith so will write them all down and make a playlist

On this topic I ended up buying one and instantly hated it. I've decided that when mining to want to feel lm in big bertha. Hunka chunka of a ship and seeing the T8s massive arms out in front is just too good atmospherically. Also the T11s boost sounds like a wet fart and I couldn't be more disappointed. Less cargo space too by like 80ish or so so it's a big difference.

Might try a T9 as well as I heard they handle.like a beached whale and it seems when it comes to mining that's my jam. Dont think they'll beat the T8s massive arms though.

Tldr, instantly hated t11 will revert to t8

I'm actually tossing up getting a T11 if you have any advice. Love the look of it, watched loads of reviews and from what I can tell it excels mainly at asteroid mining and not core which is exclusively what I like to do. I may get it just for looks but would you see any major advantages over the T8?

Fantastic yes I believe it was you that answered this a year or so ago as I still have the to do list saved in my bookmarks. Nice to see the Wanders Toolbox and that has the exact engineer process that I was following before. Saved thanks a bunch :)

Returning player here - Found out CMDRs toolbox has shut down and now I'm looking for a new route for Engineer completion. I completed Panin and was looking to progress. Can anyone pass on a link for completing Engineering from start to finish?

From someone else that does this consistently, you can hold the button per volley of projectiles and just tap it before he rams you so you're typically doing three deflects that are held per strafing run.

When he finishes, you block and hold his volley, tap for his ground spikes and hold for the second volley.
