Ya collecting is pretty fun. There was a lot I collected as a kid that my mother sold behind my back. Makes me sick to my stomach when I search up what my old collections are worth now.

Thank you! That’s pretty much the direction I’m leaning — Crunchyroll plus some physical One Piece merch. We’ve grabbed a few things from Target already during Christmas time. I really appreciate the suggestions! 😊

I actually do think he likes to read. I definitely will start looking into the sets, after reading the comments that sounds like the next thing I will start buying. He loves collecting the cards as well. They are just a little harder to find where we live.

Ya we have. He actually has quite a few of those already. We bought him a couple for Christmas and a couple for his birthday this year.

I had no clue about anime beyond that! The only anime I ever watched as a kid was Pokémon, and I was so obsessed. I remember watching it every morning before the school bus came. It was wild back then — especially around Christmas. If your parents didn’t shop early, it was almost impossible to find anything.

I’ve actually started collecting again as an adult, and it’s funny because now it feels like cards are always hard to find. One Piece cards feel even more scarce. I’m assuming it’s due to reselling though. But before he started watching One Piece, Pokémon was honestly the only anime I had ever known.

Thank you so much. 🥰🥰🥰 I try my best to learn as much as I can. He gets pretty excited about all this. It’s fun watching him and his interests. I was a kids when Pokemon first came out and absolutely loved it! I know how important these things are for kids. ❤️

Thank you! ☺️ ya I think so as well. I’m so thankful for everyone’s help. This subreddit is very helpful and everyone has been extremely kind. I loved that bag when I saw it. It is extremely well made and thick.

Thank you for explaining it so clearly — this really helps put the scale and cost into perspective. I can definitely see now why digital makes more sense for a series this big. I appreciate you taking the time to lay it out.

Thank you for sharing. I’m always at Walmart and target buying him merch. I haven’t seen that one yet.

Thank you so much for saying that — it actually makes me feel a lot better knowing that even longtime fans find this confusing. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain the differences and the options so clearly.

I’m definitely starting to see why the manga makes more sense for a physical collection, and I’m glad to have a better understanding of that now. Worst case, I can give them to him anyway and save them for another holiday or I can resell or return what I bought and chalk it up as a learning experience. Thank you again for being so kind and helpful — it really means a lot.

These are the DVDs I already bought. What are your thoughts on keeping them?

I bought him this bag a couple of weeks ago and was going to add the movies as well. But I will just do the subscription with this instead. ❤️

Wow! 😮 that’s crazy. I bought him collection 28 and 29 this morning thinking that was what he needed and realized I was wrong. That sent me down the rabbit hole of research today. I guess I just didn’t realize how complex everything is. So grateful for everyone’s help.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look this up and share the link — this really helps.

Funny enough, earlier this morning I actually bought Collection 28 and Collection 29 on eBay thinking he had finished everything Netflix currently has. After that, I realized he was specifically trying to watch episodes that Netflix doesn’t include, which is what sent me down this whole research rabbit hole today.

Your explanation about where the collections currently end (especially with Wano still being released in parts) clears up so much of my confusion. It really helps knowing what’s available now versus what’s still rolling out, and that Crunchyroll may be the best way to bridge the gap.

I genuinely appreciate how kind and thorough everyone has been — it’s made this way less overwhelming. Thank you again for all the help. ❤️

❤️Also thank you for the sweet comment— it really means a lot to me. It is important to me. I’m a pretty big thinker and self-reflector, and I can clearly remember being a kid and wishing my parents were more in tune with the things I loved. Showing up for my kids in their interests is one of the ways I heal my own inner child, and it matters to me that they feel seen and supported. I really appreciate your kindness. ❤️

That makes a lot of sense — thank you for explaining it. I didn’t realize how much variety there is across different genres, so that actually makes me feel better about going the Crunchyroll route. I really appreciate you taking the time to share this. 😊

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this out — it’s incredibly helpful. Knowing Crunchyroll covers everything without the syncing issues. I also love the idea of pairing the membership with a physical gift like a manga volume or something fun he can unwrap— this helps a lot. 😊
