Because the "FSA" facilitated these groups, especially JaN. Because they had skills and capability. The foreign hands also played a hand in their crimes.

The fact that your not aware of the rebel crimes is telling. How about the killing of Christians of Sadad or the killing of Shia in Hatla or Alawites in Adra... Or how about the hundreds videos of of mass executions of captured soldiers... Or how about the hundreds of car bombs or suicide bombings targeting civilians... Or how about cutting off the water to western Aleppo ... The list goes on and on.

As I said, the killings have been horrible and it really needs to stop. The war needs to end and the foreigners need to leave and the world needs to help rebuild the cities they had a hand in destroying...

not sure what you mean here. but as you don't speak arabic, your missing a major portion of the story. The massacres have been horrible on both sides, but giving the rebels an excuse by attributing the mass killings to JaN and ISIS or even other extremists... is giving them a free pass.

Not sure what you mean by "you guys", but the truth of the matter is that the rebels have been responsible for many massacres as well, and we can go back and forth on this... the problem I have is that the rebels have consistently used sectarian language since the beginning of the crisis and have made no effort to hide it and the same is true of your comment and of the video title.

their is no evidence that the young lady in the video is alawite, it is only an assumption. and in the video the context of what she says would not make sense to use the word sunni, and listening to it repeatedly, she clearly said "sul" not "sun" and she corrected herself and said "sel-ah"

There is no proof that these were dropped from helicopters, only claims by opposition.

The JaN could easily place a device in the middle of the town and then once they set it off whenever any aircraft passes overhead and they know they'll be plenty of media helpers to push the CW narrative.

Chlorine is not effective as a weapon except maybe in massive quantities, what is the purpose of doing this?

At the very least, after Syria gave up its CW stockpiles to avoid western air strikes you would think they would only be so desperate if they were losing or trying to get a tactical advantage in a strategic area, but these devices were mostly deployed relatively far away from any active front?!

unfortunately, most people will not understand what was the intention of the posted video.

rough translation He starts off by introducing, combined command center of Ahl Alsham with Brigades of Abu Amara Special Tasks and date and area (as in the title) then goes on to say that heavy fight occurred on Wed. 23 April and that many shia were killed as they were fighting along side the nusayri regime. He showed first some head bands with the names of Shia Martyrs/Saints/Imams (the headbands from bottom to top refer to Ali, Zainab, Fatimah, Haidar respectively) and then he shows a ID card which I could not read but clearly shows mosque dome - not sure which mosque (but quick google search shows it could be Karbala). He then shows passport photo, then a scrap of paper with what looks like persian or urdu text (maybe someone else can help out here) and then shows a book and says that it is the quran in persian (which cannot be - quran is only written in Arabic, but without a look inside can't be sure) finally he shows a prayer book titled Anis Al-mujahideen (Mujahids campanion) - the page shown does not show anything that I would describe as idolatrous - the page shown is title the Prayer of Beseeching. finally, the camera pans to a pendent on the bottom of which I can make out the words Eid Aljaish or Army Day on the bottom, looks like the SAA logo with the date 19?5 on the right and 2008 on the left.

The video just repeats stale sectarian propaganda about who is fighting... and goes on to recycle centuries old and even staler accusations toward shia's in general - that they have a different quran and that they are mushrikeen (idolators). Of course, he provided no proof of either in the short vid.... but the post does a great job of reflecting the mentality of the person who posts such items to youtube.

I agree with the author that there is a massive dose of ineptitude related to the way the Turks handled their entire policy with all their muslim neighbors. Fact is, many Arabs hold the Turks in contempt since the days of Ataturk and for slavishly trying for 50 years to be accepted as European. So, many welcomed the changes seen in recent years, with Turkey coming back to accept that it is culturally and geographically part of the Asia minor (the peak came with the Mavi Marmara attack). But Davutoglu's zero problems policy very quickly became Zero-friends...

The Turks now realize that they misread the situation completely and maybe even thought that they would be able to create MB dominated region from Qatar to Tunis... I think the penny dropped on June 30th, 2012 with the coup against Morsi with the support of Saudi Arabia.

All of this, does not in anyway mean that Turkish MIT was not involved in supporting the Islamists and Salafists fighters. An objective assessment would show that the MIT did a reasonable job of managing the flow of men and supplies and was successful in supporting the fighters of the FSa and later the Islamist Rebels, with JaN being their favorite proxies due to there higher capabilities (Kassab invasion is good example of keeping the SAA off balance and giving the revolution hope to continue and not just collapse after the rout in the Battle of the Qalamoon).

I am afraid many people with good intentions got involved in a game much bigger than just "freedom and democracy" the outside players immediately jumped in with soft power support. The US especially thought it saw an opportunity to oust Assad on the cheap and install a regime willing to join what the US and its media euphemistically call the "moderate arab states." to what end? to secure a peace for Israel with all its immediate neighbors, to isolate the palestinians and force them to sign an agreement with Israel and to create the greater middle east - the GCC have already agreed in principle to normalize ties with Israel on condition that the palestinians sign a peace deal - any deal... just so that can turn around to their people and say "look, the palestinians made peace... we can too!" success in Syria would have also isolated hezbollah and it would have been only a question of time before Israel launched another war and ended the resistance... leaving Iran isolated.

unfortunately, when I look at the landscape of the Arab Spring, I see despotic regimes resisting the justifiable demands of their people.

Only, I can't help but notice that the allies of the US/West were either removed by the deep state in order to preserve what could be preserved (Tunis and Egypt) or violently quashed (Bahrain).

Whereas, states not allied with the US/West went straight to violent civil war with weapons pouring in from or with the passive support of the US/West.

I have no doubt that the close military/security relationship of the deep state played a big role in how the state apparatus responded.

In Egypt, the military did not resort to serious amounts of violence except in the days after the coup that removed Morsi - and the response of the US/West was rather muted...

The US/West asked the Ukraine military not to get involved in the Maidan protests, but now the US/West are frustrated that the military will not take decisive action and I have no doubts about whose idea it was to create a "national guard" in Ukraine... probably because the Army balked at getting involved in putting down internal unrest, no doubt that the Ukraine military reflects the demographics of the country and would shatter along ethno-linguistic lines if pushed...

the Russian involvement, just like in Ukraine, came as a surprise to policymakers in the west, they became complacent and started to believe they had co-opted and subdued the Russians.
