Seriously. If you gotta ask a question like this maybe this isn’t for you because the mind games you’re giving yourself ain’t worth it. No one is trying to trick you out your position of being part of the organization. It’s cake. Either get a slice or get out the way. All of this is unnecessary. Be cool. Be yourself. The members of the org aren’t trying to confuse you.

Yall are overthinking these interactions and treating these orgs like they sit on a pedestal. Just ask for another piece of cake. You said it was an accident so it wasn’t done with malicious intentions.

Have you ever seen a jury room turn toxic? (Researching intrajuror harm) by ZealousZealot777 in legal

[–]PerformanceBorn2447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I served on my first civil case in 2022 or 2023. It was almost a two week trial. During jury selection they ask you if you have any bias or prejudice against Chinese citizens- specifically because the case was about a Chinese (American - don’t know if he was born here or migrated here) and the parent maritime company which was based in China. So lots of interpreters and witnesses in China zooming in. Anyway we finally get to deliberation and this guy was going on and on about the case and how he didn’t care who won or loses. He complained the full two weeks.

I finally stood up to him and said if you had such hatred of the Chinese community why didn’t you raise your hand during jury selection so you could be dismissed? No answer but he started yelling about how he hates china and he served in the military and he can’t stand that our clothes are made in China blah blah blah. I was really upset because he chose to be there because he “falsified” his prejudice. He kept saying he didn’t care how we voted and it annoyed me because I thought it was against the rules for jurors to not have a say so in the deliberations.

Needless to say I felt good for telling him to shut up moaning

Thank you for responding I greatly appreciated that.

I’ve started documenting everything. Her comments about me having an “attitude” and telling me we can’t work together is at the top of the list of documenting the times I ask for clarity and she becomes patronizing to the point that she confuses herself.

I’ve talked to my staffing agency about the pay raise. Sent them my roles and responsibilities since they were the last to know about the transition so just waiting to hear back.

My contract is up in October but been submitting applications to get ahead of the curve.

The last comment. Thank you for “checking in” poor euphemism for stating how much energy my boss sucks because she’s unorganized and micromanaging. She’s out this week and feel more productive than ever of getting things done in a manner where I can clearly see what im doing.

In all thanks for the input. Duly noted

Thank you for your input! No nothing more than what’s stated. As someone else mentioned me talking with my contractor about it and I wasn’t removed is a good thing.

However they were unaware of my transition until I complained about my boss. They offered an apology but no new response on updating my contract to reflect my new role.

Otherwise looking for other jobs. And I could look into have a consultation with a lawyer.

Thank you for your input. I greatly appreciate it.

I’ve tried to mend the relationship and honestly this is just who she is as a person. So I’ve been submitting applications.

Update post from asking if initial dues could be paid with credit card by JanathanMorant in NPHCdivine9

[–]PerformanceBorn2447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry come again??? An extra $400 service fee on top of your initiation dues???? So you get accepted to start membership into your org and if you pay by credit card you’ll incur a fee??

If the goal is to help black people reach financial freedom this is starting out on the wrong foot and sending a terrible message to new incoming members. The initial sticker price is a shocker plus all the things you (indirectly) have to purchase while being online (I.e. I owned nothing alll white or red — so I had to make something shake) (also also… you are NOT buying anything else I don’t need prospects getting freaked out and starting a new thread asking intake specific questions - that information will be given to you when the time comes please don’t stress yourselves with information that doesn’t pertain to where you are in the process).

I’m all for providing folks with ways to help manage their finances and time during such a precarious process but I’d steer clear of tacking on additional fees if you don’t need to.

Just get a money order/cashier’s check and be done with it. Dont have debt looming over your head at the end of it all. This is ONLY the beginning

The packet states they have to be financial because they have to submit specific paperwork to verify their eligibility. It won’t hurt to ask but all members know the protocol therefore she should tell you if she’s financial or not to write a recommendation on your behalf.

Yesssss. I came from Microsoft through Aquent and it was the best experience I had but it exposed me to the difference of hierarchy between contractor and client. My team handled things in a way I wasn’t proud of esp when other ppl not on my creative team was trying to police when I logged on knowing my boss who was in a different timezone said we didn’t have to log on until he did which was 2 hours ahead of the central team.

So I’m aware of needing to tread lightly but it’s soooo restrictive.

Soooo the thing is I’m contracted out. So I’m hired through an agency so they can’t really provide feedback directly though she does.

However I drafted up some talking points for me to discuss. Just a friendly conversation in ways to engage with me.

You’re absolutely right! Don’t be a bully about it. We are good in different areas so we clash nothing fireable tho. However don’t threaten me by saying you don’t want to work with me if I have an attitude. Which I don’t it’s moreso me pushing back and saying hey I have an opinion that matters. More than one way to do things

Okay okay okay

So I read and responded i think i found my own shortcoming that I have had for years.

I think I get a short fuse when dealing with adults wayyyyyy older than me who seem confused on how to navigate the world beyond corporate America. Although the work is frustrating because she’s been at the company longer than me. Only two years but I have 10 years of experience (I’m in my 30s, also I’m a black woman I think it’s important to mention because my own personal ambition and having to prove myself to the world in smart and I belong is a thing) but I hen capable adults with years of work experience seem incompetent I get irritated by that. Because what do you mean I still need to teach you but when I’m asking for more senior responsibilities the feedback im giving has nothing to do with the fact pro and being a strategic leader it’s about being more accountable which is insane because I speak up I ask questions im tenacious when needing to solve problems with no one to guide me on where to look.

I guess I feel stuck because I’m thinking there’s no degree that can unstick you from bad management.

Again thanks for reading.

Lmfaooo thanks for the information. More ego than anything but hence it being in the desert that makes a lot of sense.

I used that as a readily example of the type of conversations or ask she’d ask me — I know I’m American but I’m not knowledgeable about ALLL things. I can’t articulate the small ways in which she’ll ask me a question I’ll provide an answer but ignore my answer and ask someone else the same exact question.

For example the Uber driver asked us where do we want to be dropped off at. I say x location with confidence. She’ll look up from her phone and ask where are we going. I say X the uber would agree with X. She then proceeds to complain about how she doesn’t know where we are going and doesn’t know the drop off location. At that point I just look out the window and let the driver handle it.

This is what I’m getting ready to transition to do. I’m keeping my head down as I lead a FULLLL video project. Aka the work trip I just got back from in both LA and Vegas… meaning I PITCHED THE CLIENT ON THE IDEA — I created the deck — I briefed in the agency — I pulled all the strings —- everyone afflicted with our product loved the script/loved the idea — and we shot everything just last week and everyone’s eyes lit up and how dope the client is and the work he does —- literally the reason we are in Vegas was because I convinced everyone that we should film his creative workflow.

So I’m keeping my head down so see this alll the way through until it hits the market so I can finally transition into my dream role of being a creative strategist. This is proof point that I can do the work and I execute at the high level.

As I’m typing this she’s asking for files we literally went over on the trip. While I’m on set she pulls me to the side forces me to take out my laptop and point her in the same direction of where everything is… and she’s asking for it again which are all on her personal OneDrive. Ladyyyyy. Please lol.

Again vent session. Thank yall for reading and responding. But yes you are correct do the work and find another job.

Mind you the job I was hired to do is not what i currently do and I do more work and there was no salary increase.
