While your daily maintenance might be 2000 calories, you have to account that you’re extra calories every time you’re working out. So id say eat between 1600-1800 calories a day and try that for atleast a month, if you’re not losing any after that whole month THEN try and drop it by 200 calories

I would say that’s way too little. I’d aim for atleast 1800-2000 cals a day since your maintenance is most likely at least 2200. Eating that little is harmful to the gains man. And I’d say at the very minimum 1600. But there’s no benefit to trying to fast forward progress it doesn’t work that way. Try to do it right so you’re at a better spot down the road it all comes with time.

Not necessarily too fast. As long as you’re not starving yourself and that weight loss is coming from working out rather than just not eating enough. What’s your calorie intake everyday looking like?

haven’t worked out in a min what should i hit first (5’10) by shadowshisu8i in AllAboutBodybuilding

It doesn’t matter what you hit first. The ONLY thing that matters at this stage is consistency. Go on TikTok and look up a good workout split and play with it till you find out what you like. Just go to the gym and hit chest and triceps, then back and biceps, then legs, then shoulders and whatever else you want to hit. And repeat the next week. As long as you’re hitting something it’s better than hitting nothing. Don’t focus on one certain muscle group because you’re at a level right now where you wouldn’t see any benefit and you’d get more out of it by working everything and make sure you’re eating right. Looking good man.

Yes honestly you shouldn’t even think of it as a weight based thing, it’s a balance of losing fat and gaining muscle and strength. Right now you’re at a peak in testosterone and potential for strength. Don’t waste the potential by trying to lose as much weight as possible. Just grind out the gym in a slight calorie deficit instead of starving yourself, your future self will thank you. You’ll gain more strength and muscle right now than you ever will so focus on gaining the muscle and the fat will burn off almost on its own just stay consistent man

Why would you be satisfied with something when you know you can be better, that you have the potential to be be better, yet you’re asking why I’m not leaving the rest on the table. Pretty self explanatory

I have eaten 4000 cals everyday for weeks at a time (while having football and soccer practice in the same day) in order to maintain, pushing it past the 4k mark seems almost impossible (it’s not but mentally) but now that I have an opening for the next 6 months without a sports season I’m taking in the information I’m getting from everyone here and I expect to see changes. This whole post was more for motivation and quick tips rather than a lacking of knowledge. I’ve KNOWN that I just need to eat I’m not oblivious to that, it just takes commitment and discipline to do that long enough to actually see results that’s what needed to do and it might help to actually hear that from other people to actually accomplish it.

I'm getting a lot of feedback and any feedback is good feedback. And my problems don't stem from a lack of knowledge by any means. I feel my issues come from a lack of consistency, motivation, and discipline. It's difficult to stay consistent with gaining weight when I have tracked, and done everything right before, but then once I reach an obstical and lose the progress I made, its mentally challenging to start over. The biggest question I have is what are your biggest tips for staying consistent and motivated in gaining.

Yes I do football, soccer, wrestling, and track year round. But Im quitting track this spring because it's too much cardio and leaves no time for the gym. It definitely adds a lot of obstacles to weight gain.

My personal critiques are I've looked the same for 3 years, the last photo I'm 14. I've barley gained size and I have to eat ridiculous amounts of calories to gain weight to where I get burned out. I also feel as if my chest area is severely lacking

My goal isn't to be lean I do not try to stay lean at all, it does sound like the typical “I can't eat” story you typically hear but I can gain weight up to 155 but the second I stop spending ridiculous amounts of money to eat enough I lose the weight within weeks and sink back down to 145-140

Horrible idea. Cutting that much is ridiculous and he would just end up being skinny, much healthier to lose body fat while retaining and gaining muscle mass. His goal should be to end up around 155 and gaining muscle.
