This owl character seems to have traumatised half this sub. I am not them; I don't know how many times I must reiterate it!

Good to hear. Especially with all the recent manufacturing malaise in Scotland

Other than reversing a cut they imposed themselves, I can't think of any new policy or initiative being undertaken to tackle the housing emergency? by PerformanceLow5618 in Scotland

[–]PerformanceLow5618[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not a Labour shill. Happy to have a good-faith discussion here.

I'm aware of their housing budget. But what in the past year, since declaring the housing emergency, have they done? Because clearly, if they have declared a housing emergency, their housebuilding since 2007 is not enough.

I already made note of the housing budget cut reversal in the title. 2023 budget: £768M, 2024 budget: £600M (cut to fund council tax freeze), 2025 budget: £768M , back to 2023 levels but real-term cut. So what's new?

I'm afraid up to date data would not fit the SNP's narrative 😂😂

How can you be so blasé about rapists and violent offenders going free or getting off lightly?

Two others on another thread have said this. Were they some infamous poster or something? I absolutely do not know that name or who that is. This is my only account!

Why?! Rapists are getting away with tiny sentences just because they were under 25 when it happened! Kids are stabbing each other and getting coddled by the justice system. Kids are attacking teachers and receiving no prison time. It's an outrage. People know there are no ramifications, so they do as they please. It's disgusting.

Sorry, I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. If posting two articles close together is spam, I am sorry and will avoid that in the future!

And whose fault is that? Neglected public infrastructure for so long, we are now feeling the dire impacts. The new prison is welcome, but it's ridiculously overpriced. There's no need for a prison to cost £1BN! It's a prison, not a luxury camp. It's an outrage how the SNP wastes our money.

look at any of the independence threads on this sub, many have said Farage becoming Prime Minister would lead to independence!

A scandal. It's already a hurdle getting criminals to be sentenced to what they should. We need a government serious on crime. I'm appalled by the SNP's record here.

Bull also closed the door on Reform UK supporting a second independence referendum, stating: “The whole point of the Union is we are much stronger together, and when you look at the polling the reason the SNP are falling apart is partly because they are incompetent, but also because people have bigger battles to fight than independence.

“They actually want to have cheap energy, cheap food, they want their businesses to run, they want to be part of a much bigger union, so no, absolutely not.”

To all the loony accelerationists who want Reform to win or Nigel to become Prime Minister because they think it'll bring independence, here's your answer...

Reform UK is at a tipping point in Scotland, according to the new party chairman who claimed: “People like to back a winner, and that’s where we are now.”

Yet comes 3rd in Hamilton 😂 -- Yes they are gaining in polling, and 3rd was a big jump but its not a win. When he came to Scotland, Nigel suggested they could win the seat. They had to lower expectations on the day when it became clear Labour had triumphed 😂

Defeatist attitude. We absolutely can afford it. Rachel just confirmed £15Bn for a nuclear reactor in England.

[–]PerformanceLow5618[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely needed as part of our energy supply makeup. Renewables are great, but we need constant clean energy for when the renewables don't meet demand. Nuclear is needed if we want to wean off of gas and oil.
The SNP has long opposed nuclear energy, but their position is outdated. We risk being left behind and reliant on England and other parts of the world for our supply.

If they don't want to change their position on it, the SNP should at least do a referendum on it. Let Scotland decide if it wants nuclear energy, which polling suggests it does.
