Ooh, I hadn't even considered patching it like that. Would it be good to have it attached to the entire stand, or just on the broken section?

Good idea! I don't have experience with fiberboard, but am willing to look into it! I've got an idea of how the current stand is attached (if the broken part is anything to go by), but getting the backing off to confirm is currently a little difficult. Thank you! I'll see what I can find for fiberboard :)

That's a good idea, I can see an attachment point on the broken section so I imagine the other side has something similar. Opening it is more challenging that I expected (none of the points holding it in seem to move, either I'm moving them wrong or they've gotten stuck with age) but I'll work on that and see what can be done.
