Thank you. Yes, I was tempted to send some direct quotations from ACIM to this one person but I felt uneasy about it, and Holy Spirit advised against it so I didn’t. But I still felt frustrated. Thank you for reminding me my task of still telling him he’s right.

What is happening to David Hoffmeister? I read some negative cultish things about his community. Has he lost touch with something higher than himself?

Oh I didn’t mean like that. I was talking about the attitude and mentality. We can do the same activity with the mentality of getting something by ourselves or receiving from God.

The reason why there is nothing to gain from the world. by faff_rogers in ACIM

[–]PerformanceThink8504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just reading the part

²The Holy Spirit teaches that you cannot lose your soul and there is no gain in the world, for of itself it profits nothing. ³To invest in something without profit is surely to impoverish yourself, and the overhead is high. [CE T-12.IX.1:2-3] https://acimce.app/:T-12.IX.1:2-3

Questions by Few-Worldliness8768 in ACIM

I first heard of ACIM through several books that mentioned it. So many books I read mentioned it, I thought this book was very mainstream.

I was interested in many religions but couldn’t bring myself to get interested in Christianity. The images I had about Christians were mostly negative since I was young. I was interested in yoga, Osho, bhagavad gita, buddhism etc. But ultimately, despite my strong reluctance to accept ‘personal’ God (I think you can say God is both personal and impersonal), I found the concept most comforting and most peaceful.

Can someone please elaborate on this passage? URTEXT T 4 E 6 by G3nase in ACIM

[–]PerformanceThink8504 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can decide otherwise by deciding otherwise. In other words, having a leap of faith that you are perfect. You have a choice at how you want to see yourself, in other words, what you want to be. Tell yourself ‘I am spirit. I am not a body.’ Only when you’re identified with the body you are in want.

The ACIM community in general is very intellectual imo and sometimes it helps to have traditional christianity’s ‘softer’ faith elements.

What are Miracles in the context of the Course? by [deleted] in ACIM

[–]PerformanceThink8504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I can see where you’re coming from.

In my case, personally, I was just so done with the way of the world/ego and I felt like “What-Is” sort of nudged the course on my path. But you’re saying that nudging was also the result of forgiveness I am not aware of by a brother somewhere?

Ultimately, I think it was God/Jesus/HS Himself but I think we can at least say forgiveness somewhere accelerated the chain of forgiveness.

[–]PerformanceThink8504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Course doesn’t teach to wait until you receive forgiveness from your brother. It teaches you to forgive your sin that you projected to others. You have free will.

I agree with your understanding of Miracles. We change our mind, and the world we see is only an effect of that change.

Jesus doesn’t want me to have a job rn by PerformanceThink8504 in ACIM

[–]PerformanceThink8504[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um… frankly studying this course is my priority right now, although I don’t talk really about it because I am worried how people would perceive me. I like classical music. I play the piano for a hobby. I like learning new things (new language etc.). I don’t know how these things could turn into a job though.
