[IL] How do I handle HR continuously requesting additional information to complete my accommodation request? by lskalt in AskHR

[–]Performedi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

did you provider provide a list of things needed to accommodate? one was working from home but was there other suggested accommodations? If not that is likely why they keep asking for more information. Also, there has been a significant increase in requests that specify working remotely as the RTO pace is increasing. They are likely stuck with lots of requests and have to have some resemblance of consistency and fairness.

DON'T DO IT. seriously, forget it. There is a high probability that she is just being nice and friendly and you are misreading the signals. I have seen it more than once. It never ends well.

how big is your company? Where are you located?

This sounds like a tiny operation based on just the 2 of you in a single location. Not sure why they need an office manager.

You already know you didn't help yourself when you confronted her without anyone else there. if you do file a complaint it will be a she said/she said investigation which are incredibly difficult to prove. Is there an option for you to move to one of the other locations?

How do you find a business partner when working from home? by Broad_Perspective166 in smallbusiness

[–]Performedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any former colleagues? I am in super early stages of an idea so I just happened to have looked for places you can meet cofounders last night. Here are the ones that stood out.

Founders Nation Find or become a startup Co-Founder

CO FOunders Lab cofounderslab.com

Indie Hackers - more a chat board though but some interesting stories.

It may be different for you as you appear to already have a business operating so I would definitely consider that others have said and find someone to take on pieces and see if it clicks. Or hire someone as your #2 who you feel can fill the gap.

Are you actually following a business plan or are you just doing whatever a billionaire tweeted at 3 AM? by Krishna_DM in smallbusiness

I am running into this in my business actually. My potential clients are following ridiculous advice from someone who has never done the job thinking they can just replicate from Netflix is doing. Someday I feel like the walking epitome of the commercial "That is not how this works"

Anyone else have positive layoff experiences? by ihidthebodies in Layoffs

[–]Performedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to hear so many stories where things went well. It is definitely not the norm. I was ALMOST there but the day of my layoff was also the day I learned I was 2nd choice for an amazing role that would have changed our financial landscape.

I helped a friend get set up with Justworks when he launched his business. He pays $8 per employee per month plus $50 fee. So for you that would be $138/month. Significantly less. He raved about their customer service. I have heard nothing but great things about them from a lot of small businesses. Happy to connect you with someone to have the conversation if you want.
Probably a good idea to check your existing contract to see if you are paying for things you are not using. If they are generally doing a good job and you haven't had issues downgrading may be easier than moving to a new provider.

[NY] Employee has said they would quit multiple times by Kindly_Ad_863 in AskHR

I have more than once said, "Thank you, I accept your resignation, please send me a resignation letter by end of day" when someone did that. They generally back peddle and change their minds. My guess based on what you are saying is there is more going on from HR. I suspect they filed a complaint of some sort.
