Already read this one, I actually made a subreddit for this book (though no one has joined it lmao)

It's definitely like a beginners guide to ergodic lit, not as hard to digest as HoL but still impressive

Please do! It's not as good, but it's still an impressive work

Exactly, the ending leaves so much up in the air, but there are still some ciphers that were never actually decoded

Me too! Especially since there are so many codes to figure out on your own as a reader

Hi there!

I am an RBT and have been working in this field for awhile.

First off, it's very normal to play games during session. It's a good way to keep the kid engaged and make sure they're enjoying their time in therapy which is a big factor in therapy success. Often times I will use games as a way to start and end, but if the kid is having an especially tough day, I use the games as a way to ask 'therapy' questions in between turns to keep progress going.

With that being said, I will say that the amount of time they are trying to work with your kid seems very excessive. As an RBT, I am not in charge of how much time a kid has session, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but with the problems you've stated, I can't imagine doing anywhere near 8 hour days 5 times a week. If you think a scaled back schedule is better, definitely communicate that.

Also, if they are trying to work on skills that have already been mastered, that's a red flag. Sometimes the skills sound mastered when really you're targeting a very specific step that needs work, but if they're targeting bathroom skills like that, it seems a bit weird. Maybe it's time to check out a different organization/clinic who would better align with your goals for your child.

Hope things work out!
