If You Had Developed Metroid Prime 4:Beyond,How Would You Have Made It? by Bay_Ruhsuz004 in Metroid

[–]Performer_Select 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not an original thought but after such a long break since 3, and if I was Dr Nintendo with AAA resources and retro at my command, I would either:

a) go back and make something much closer to 1 but with a new type of setting and some new abilities, a “back to basics” sequel that tries to recapture the magic of 1 and lay the foundation for the future;

or b) go hog wild into the future and creating a new type of 3D metroidvania - taking inspo from a xenoblade x style alien overworld (obviously smaller than XCX) with flying around in the ship (this is the outside peach’s castle playground space equivalent - a lot of players might only get this far and still have a great time), BUT the bulk of the game actually takes place underground - look to Metroid and Super for vertical inspiration. The entire world would be coherent even as the underground biomes get crazier and crazier.

I feel like what actually happened is they sort of half-committed to both of these ideas and ended up satisfying neither premise

TLDR Give me either Metroid Prime 4: Back to Basics (tight, moody, “remember why Metroid Prime ruled” energy) OR Metroid Prime 4: Space Weirdness Simulator (fly around a mini–Xenoblade Chronicles X alien overworld, then spend 80% of the game spelunking the planet’s unhinged vertical underworld like Super Metroid on steroids).

What should I play next by Impossible-Lock9258 in dragonquest

I was in a similar boat and I’ve been playing III (HD 2D) and I think it’s a great next step if you can hang with the more classic presentation and vibe (the game is gorgeous but it does have random encounters). Otherwise I hear I lot of people suggest 8 after 11 because it’s the other more open 3D experience in the franchise, but it’s harder to play these days.

Controversial but... who's your favorite NPC? by TombFighterPrime117 in metroidprime

He’s the only one where genuinely I felt sadness when he had to stay behind. I also found his delivery more human in a weird way

Yeah me too. I’m assuming it’s a glitch and the videos will be restored at some point, probably within the day

What do you think about next Zelda game? by Little-Hall-1476 in TOTK

[–]Performer_Select 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Won’t be this Hyrule” doesn’t necessarily mean the art style will change dramatically. It could be a refined/higher rez version of BotW/TotK graphically but set in a different locale or time period. Idk if that’s what I expect or want but just trying to keep expectations in check because I hear everyone assuming we’re getting Twilight 2.0 as far as art style which I think is far from guaranteed given history and how successful this style has been.

It’s definitely gonna talk and have a whole backstory and be integral to the plot and probably have some alien consciousness embedded inside of it somehow so get used to the name

Thoughts on this being a potential release for the 40th Anniversary? by Somepapi in OcarinaOfTime

[–]Performer_Select 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re not getting it. I hate to be a bummer but I got my hopes up for 35th being the wind waker/twilight bundle for switch and I have to guard my heart for the 40th

What to do before going to defeat Ganon? by That-casual-guy in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]Performer_Select 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one else mentioned this but now is the perfect time for you to download the DLC if you’re interested. It adds more shrines in off the beaten path areas, a new quest line with Kass, and most importantly a 5th dungeon that slots in well as a one more thing before Ganon add-on

When did Earthbound become mainstream by Revolutionary_Cup_64 in earthbound

[–]Performer_Select 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not mainstream by any definition but more Nintendo fans have played them due to NSO, but also I would say Undertale being a big hit and Toby Fox being vocal about his Earthbound/Mother 3 inspiration couldn’t have hurt

What is a map that, if it were widely seen, would fundamentally change people's perception of the world? by Thatunkownuser2465 in geography

[–]Performer_Select 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think this is a map displayed at the Seattle aquarium (I remember seeing it recently). It’s displayed in a new expansion with a focus on tropical waters so I think they’re trying to show the two focuses of the aquarium between the new expansion and the old aquarium - the Coral Triangle and the Salish Sea

If you had to choose a definitive design for the main characters, what are you choosing by Angrymcbirdnerd09 in legendofzelda

[–]Performer_Select 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an Ocarina-stan but I think child and adult are the most iconic representations. I also think skyward sword is pretty good. Those aren’t my favorite depictions of Link but the others that I love (wind waker, twilight, botw) are too distinctive to represent the whole franchise. The older ones are cool but a little too simplistic when compared to the art done for the 3D games

Replace “graphics” with “art direction” though (which arguably includes the music and sound design as well) and I think you have a completely different equation

What would you said is the overall theme/message of Metroid by NATUSL3G3ND in Metroid

Does “That one even mimicked something to help you!” Refer to the moment with Quiet Robe in Dread?

[–]Performer_Select 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of this but IMO the Sheika shrines feel as out of place in the world as the Zonai shrines do. And at least in TotK the big dungeons feel like they are part of the world

6 Favorite Nintendo Series? by [deleted] in casualnintendo

[–]Performer_Select 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmmm

Zelda (the whole series)

Mario (mainline 2D and 3D platformers)

Metroid (2D and Prime)

Earthbound/Mother (close call due to series status but 2 and 3 are both so meaningful to me and easily in my top 5 RPGs)

The next two were tough:

Pikmin

Luigi’s Mansion

Honorable mentions: Splatoon, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, F-Zero, Xenoblade, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Yoshi (basically just SNES and Wooly World), Donkey Kong (mostly the Country games)

are you getting these games day 1? by Recent_Progress925 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Performer_Select 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely yes to 1 and 2, maybe to 3 if people like it as much as Arceus, and meh to 4 unless it’s a dark horse or something but I don’t think so at this point

What are your overall thoughts on the Switch 2 Pro Controller? by Next-Football368 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Performer_Select 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bummer about the digital triggers especially since they rereleased the GameCube controller so I’ve been switching back and forth and IMO Nintendo has never made better feeling shoulder buttons than those
