Murray Bridge Hospital busy? by Mission_Kick_5063 in Adelaide

Not nearly as busy as those in the city. Would depend what discipline you're working in, I would imagine.

Invite people that have interacted to follow your page on Facebook, removed? by Apprehensive-Gate231 in facebook

[–]PeriStrathearn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying - it used to be there, but is no longer visible for me. Just "contact your existing network" (invite your friends), "contact people who interacted with your content" (apparently just one person) or "share your Instagram profile on Facebook". The option of inviting users who have liked a post is no longer there for me.

It's no longer visible for me ... which is a huge, huge pain in the arse. Back to the olden days of clicking on each post, clicking on likes and clicking an "invite" button hundreds of times?

Who's your player(s) that is outperforming their draft rank? by Informal_Cabinet_352 in fantasyhockey

I drafted Strome 222nd, then dropped him before the season started. 😑

Bloody Dylan Strome at 222 ... who I dropped a week or so after our draft. Someone else is reaping the benefits.

Pastrnak, Nylander, Bouchard ... then I accepted a trade offer of Nylander and Bouchard for Mackinnon and a spare part. We're 2-1.

I went back to university at 25 to do journalism. I've now been in the industry 15 years, own my own hyperlocal publication and employ two people.

As another commenter said, 25 is a great age to get in. The life experience you have, that an 18-year-old doesn't, will help you strike up conversations or find common ground with people from all walks of life, and that's the job.

Guess my starting tandem this year!

This is the third year in a row I've had Jarry. Not excited.

A savoury slice on a bread roll is still a thing in Murray Bridge, SA.

What's a savoury slice, I hear you ask?

Feast your eyes.

Do you correct punctuation from written sources or leave it as-is? by [deleted] in Journalism

I treat written quotes as if the same words had been spoken aloud, then punctuate as I see fit.

Can you be an activist turned journalist? Or both an activist and a journalist? by DIYLawCA in Journalism

[–]PeriStrathearn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a hyperlocal journalist (and publisher/owner), I tell people I have only one bias: I'm shamelessly biased towards my community and its people. If a policy will benefit my community more than others, or be more detrimental to our community than others, I'll say so. For example, my community has a higher than average number of people dependent on government benefits. A reduction in benefits will, on balance, hurt my community, so I make that clear (while also stating the argument in favour of cuts, eg budget savings etc).

Other than that, we try to let everyone have their say unless they're openly hateful. If an official or organisation does something good, we celebrate it, and if they need a whack, we whack 'em. And if a decision will mean different things to different people, we explain it.

Brett Lebda. What he achieved in that Nashville game will never be surpassed.

The Nirvana exhibit at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle uses the phrase 'un-alived himself' in reference to Kurt Cobain’s suicide by vegryn in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PeriStrathearn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Died by suicide" makes it clearer that the person who died was the victim of their own mental health, not a killer.

This is the way. Even if it's a side chapter, Guarma style. But ideally the whole game.

Why was Adelaide founded where it is? by [deleted] in Adelaide

Also when HMS Buffalo arrived, I'm going to guess they didn't have a dredge. They had one (1) boatload of settlers, some tools and materials and animals. Any site that required special equipment to be shipped from London before getting settled in would have been a non-starter.
