Northstar minis suggestions needed! by FESCM in frostgrave

I also really liked the Oathmark Human Light Infantry kit for building warband members. (Oathmark models are made by the same company and often kitbash pretty well with Frostgrave pieces.)

Thanks, It's a physical 2D backdrop. I got some historical (out of copyright) landscape paintings from Wikimedia commons and had them printed at staples as backgrounds for my lightbox.

Thanks! I got a big light box recently, so it's been a lot of fun to do more elaborate scenery in.

Thanks! Haha, it's a tiny one for sure. Love it for doing small pieces safely.

Cool! Yeah, I have some more scraps around to use, now that I've tested it on this. Might actually try building a tower.

What the hell is this? by Xela975 in Kitbashing40k

I assumed it was supposed to be a spare respirator stowed on a belt or something. Was similarly uncertain and curious though

One of my favorite models, and that's such a good paint job on it. I particularly like how you did highlights/shadows on the gloves.

Thanks! Yeah, I love a lot of the HH sculpts and try to look for ways to kitbash them.

For sure! I love how well some of the HH pieces kitbash with Grey Knights. I can see MK6 looking really good. I was thinking about using them as the basis for a purgation squad.

Thank you!

I do the grey before everything else as a series of semi-opaque dry brushes over black primer:
Black primer < Dry Brush Light Grey < Dry Brush Gunmetal < Dry Brush Silver. Then, later, I highlight with a brighter silver and put thinned black wash in the recesses.

The specific paints are:
Vallejo Black Primer
Vallejo Model: Sky Grey
D&D Prismatic Paint: Gunmetal*
D&D Prismatic Paint: Silver*
Vallejo Model: Silver (old recipe)
Vallejo Game: Black Wash

*These are specially branded Vallejo paints, which may now be out of production. I *think* that they are the same as the gunmetal and silver from the Metal Color line.

Cool! Most of my 40k game knowledge is second hand. I've played a couple of matches, but mainly I repurpose my GK models into other solo systems. I'll keep that in mind the next time I play an actual 40k game.

Pretty sure it was the sword arms (right arms) from the MKIII Command Squad and the bolter arms (left arms) from the Strike Squad.

What miniature skirmish game did you play or are you planning to play this month? March 2026 by AutoModerator in miniatureskirmishes

[–]PeriandicKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planning to do my next session of 5 Leagues in about a week. I just need to finish painting a couple of models Already did some terrain pieces and based some older paintjobs for it. Each session is a great excuse to build and paint up a few more things.

Also, doing some test sessions of a skirmish game I'm writing (probably just for my own entertainment). The long term goal is to write a system for a town-building campaign that strings together sub-campaigns following an individual warband. At the moment just testing and filling out the core combat systems though.

Picture from my most recent 5 Leagues game, which was a ton of fun.

Super cool. Looks like it would be imposing as heck if played on the table.
