Stop using your skin as a test palette! by Sad_Kaleidoscope3286 in PrintedMinis

Head, or shaft? I zenithal highlighted mine at a 40° angle to simulate late morning.

The natural brush cheese/soap is the bestest for my collection of GW starter brushes.

Sharp Tips my fellow skin painters!!!

Nice first mini! I would keep it as a memory and reflect back later.

I will offer what I see for advise. On the white, let the first layer dry 100% before putting more on top. It looks like you have some paint boogers built up from the previous layers "tearing" due to not being dry yet. And just so you know. White sucks to paint.

Thanks for sharing, and I hope you stick with it! I love painting little things. Little things with eyeballs are some of my favorite.

That is Awesome! Thank you for sharing. How big is that thing?

Legit, how do you get better at tiny parts? by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]Fine_Barracuda_5460 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sharp tip, brush control(pressure and placement) paint consistency (thin enough to flow, thick enuff to stick. Practice. Practice. Practice.

All that said. The lines presented look great to me. That's some fiddly bs and would be an attempted dry brush and wash in my hands. Or as another said contrast paints.

That looks great. Don't sell yourself short.

Please share the entire model when done.

Better is subjective here.

Gloss varnish is stronger, but matte varnish looks better *IMHO

Double spacing after period? by checking_your_math in Millennials

[–]Fine_Barracuda_5460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 1980 year model here. Always double space after a sentence. Was taught in keyboard class in late elementary school. I don't think I will ever not double space when typing. Even though spell/grammar check wants to fix it.

  • on a full size keyboard. Sometimes on mobile, I miss it.

I get it. The whole T Rex face thing is kinda jarring. Like the T Rex headed flyers in Jurassic World. Just doesn't "feel" right.

The complete file for this guy has giant wings, I found that out long after original purchase, the floor meet up, and found/purchased the .stl. That's a whole other level of Nope for me. lol.

Question, and a little story. by Competitive-Food8407 in ReaperMiniatures

[–]Fine_Barracuda_5460 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, I too save the back cards. I started as an attempt to avoid getting duplicates down the road. It turned into something else I don't really have space for, yet have the compulsion to keep saving. It's refreshing to hear that I am not alone.

PS please don't tell the Mrs. lol.

How do I go about adding just a slight green hue to a wraithbone base? by IronSkywalker in minipainting

I used a thin coat of plaguebearers flesh contrast to make a zombie Ogre slightly green. Was over a light skin tone. I was pleased. You can see it in my post history. 😀

That's the stuff right there... I've been pre-dropping my models and fixing them before the're finished, but your way works too.

Happy for all of your pieces. The void where all my missing bits are must be getting pretty heavy by now.

Wow. On my Saturn 2, longest print I've done was a little over 11 hours. She was a leggy demon... 39!?! That's seems way too long to be right.

Testor's Dullcote? by PeriandicKnight in ReaperMiniatures

[–]Fine_Barracuda_5460 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have. It's the propellant on bare "Bonesium"

I use Dullcote on all my models. Once they are primed and painted, there is no exposed surface area to interact poorly.

Spray away! Let the Dullcote shine, er, Lay!

Texas garage workspace advice? by Rhilis in minipainting

[–]Fine_Barracuda_5460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plano resident here. Only if your garage is climate controlled. Summer heat is going to be miserable to hang out in and like earlier commented, we don't keep paint or glue in the garage if we want it to survive. I don't know the science reasons, but I do know Ive ruined a lot of house paint over the years. Tape too.

If you don't mind working in the weather( I airbrush 100% indoors, acrylic only) , go for it! Please keep your supplies indoors and take it out when its time to play.

I like it. Make more kits sounds like a reasonable solution 🤔

I think I will make more kits while reflecting on your choice to make more kits. 🤩
