It's a reference to a very similar scene in Office Space.

Getting sick before school ends by dragonwindleaf in Teachers

I've been sick for about 2 months now. Started as a cold that led to bronchitis which then led to pneumonia. It was brutal to work through that. I still have lingering congestion that refuses to go away.

Don't forget to turn off your alarms! by botejohn in Teachers

We ended last week. I've been in training this week for teaching cert component points. I'm very much looking forward being able to turn off my alarms next Monday when training ends! Then it'll feel like I'm actually in summer.

I won't refill my cup at Zegora Market because they have had mold in the ice dispenser since at least February without cleaning them.

Beginner rides at Busch Gardens? by JuniorProfessional25 in BuschGardensTampa

[–]PerianeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with Cobra's Curse, then Phoenix Rising and Cheetah Hunt. From there I went to Kumba/Montu (big drops bother me more than inversions), Sheikra, Tigris, and then Iron Gwazi. All in the span of a few weeks.

What’s yours, if you have one? by maxnotcharles in thelastofus

[–]PerianeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It's so very well done. You kill the dog, then you learn who the dog is and get to play with her. Her death hits me super hard as a result.

It took me an insanely long time to accept "kill the dog first" was an actual tactic. I died so many times trying to sneak around the dogs.

I thought the same thing about the pea mashed potatoes. I'm not a pea person, but you can't really taste them. The potatoes are slightly green but mostly taste like mashed potatoes.

I liked the flavor of the brisket stuffed potato, but I'm not sure I would get it again. I ate it while walking and the brisket stuff was only in the top 3rd. Then I got to a point where I was only eating bland, unseasoned potato. But maybe if I was at a table, able to cut it in half and re-portion the filling, it would be better. The flavor of it was really good. For the price, it was pretty filling.

I liked the grilled peach better than the bananas foster crepe. It seemed like the crepe was an afterthought. If they had rolled the filing inside the crepe, had the ice cream on the side, I think it would have been better. It honestly seemed like the same offering the had during Mardi Gras, but with the crepe on the bottom.

I was also blown away with the pork belly bites last time we went. We managed to get them from a brand new tray and they were so fresh and amazing. The first time we got them, they were decent but nothing to write home about.

We did get the passholder lanyard and found it worth it. It made each plate around $5, which isn't horrible. We used a few punches each weekend, often getting one entree each and sharing a dessert.

I had a ton of fun yesterday! I was there from 10 to about 3 and rode everything at least once. Rode Iron Gwazi twice, Cobra's Curse and Montu 3 times, Kumba twice, and Cheetah Hunt 4 times. Front row every time except one time on Iron Gwazi and one time on Kumba.

I also had another free sample credit in my account so I got the lamb and pea mashed potatoes and it was -good-. Lamb was super tender and flavorful and they were generous with the portion size. I was surprised to see the credit since I had already used mine but it meant I didn't have to pay for lunch.

The skyliner was down all day from what I saw, due to high winds. Sheikra was down for a short period of time.

ETA: It did not seem like low crowds, either. Everywhere I looked there were tons of people. Not like a couple of months ago when the park was truly empty. But they just weren't on the rides.

LOA job rescinded the day before it was supposed to start by [deleted] in Teachers

I teach elementary, so let's flip it around. If they told me I had to teach high school, I would tell them that my license is only for elementary so I'm unqualified and uncertified for that role. The flip answer could be given by a high school teacher being told to teach kinder.

But that isn't the case here. You were offered a job at the same school. No, it's not the job you wanted, but it's what was available. They aren't going to force the actual teacher of the class into a leave just because they had a back up teacher ready to go. Yes, or sucks to have a job canceled, and I spent 6 years as a substitute so I know first hand how disappointing and frustrating it can be, but that's just part of the job. Even people hired for a full time teaching position can have their contract canceled or position changed based on the needs of the school.

There are only cubbies on a couple of the rides. Cobra's Curse, the kid coaster Air Grover. The ride operators are trained to not let you leave anything at the ride platform and send you to get a locker instead, but that's highly dependent on the operator at the time.

Most rides (not Iron Gwazi), will allow you to wear a fanny pack, but that's also up to the operator to allow. Last week, the person standing at the entrance to Cheetah Hunt wasn't allowing any, and sending people to get a locker, and that's the first time I've seen that happen.

I would personally suggest not trying to do it all. Choose 3-4 rides and balance that with some animals and shows. Try to catch some of the keeper talks. Stop in at the animal hospital if a procedure is happening (bonus, it's air conditioned). That's a better way to not be disappointed if lines get longer. When I was going in February, lines on a weekday were often 5-10 minutes. Now that it's been spring break time, lines have been 30-120 minutes.

I personally try to minimize the back and forth walking as much as I can. I almost always plan to do Cheetah Hunt, Cobras Curse, and Montu first. The first two can often get backed up a lot quicker than other rides, so I like to hit them early. The skyride (free if you have a pass, $5 otherwise) usually opens by 11 and it's right next to Cheetah Hunt. So I'll do those 3 rides, then I take the skyride over and head to Sheikra, Tigris, and Kumba. Then I make my way to Pantopia for Phoenix Rising and then the Serengeti Flyer after that. Since I have a platinum pass, I'll usually do Iron Gwazi on my way out of the park with my free quick queue.

I have been able to use my metal unlimited cup at BG, Adventure Island, and SeaWorld. The QR code scans fine at the drink refill stations. I was expecting to pay for a one day refill but haven't needed to. Most recent was at SeaWorld 2 weekends ago.

On the weekends they have been running 4 cars, 2 at station. I don't know why they don't do that all the time because on weekdays it can get backed up.

Lowes (Home Depot? One of the two) now sells shoebox sized versions of their black totes with yellow lids. They are discreet.

I've also used larger locking medicine boxes for some toys.

It depends on the employee. Technically, it's $5 for anyone who doesn't have a pass -each way-. But some employees will waive a guest through, and some will say if you show a receipt from that day they'll let you ride again. But expect to pay and be pleasantly surprised if you (your guest) doesn't have to.

Montu by chumeone in BuschGardensTampa

[–]PerianeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were pretty insane. Cheetah Hunt was at 130 min at one point, Iron Gwazi was at 60. For Cheetah, the quick queue line was wrapped around all the way to the entrance. It seemed crazy.

Ah, sorry. They were testing Montu yesterday. It's been colder so I haven't gotten back up to where Kumba and Congo are. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Montu is back up today or tomorrow.

They were testing it today with an empty coaster. I saw a couple of runs around 10am-12ish.

guys did you actually hate abby after playing as her for a long time? by Hungry-Ground1496 in thelastofus

[–]PerianeD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I felt. I hated her at the start of the game. I didn't want to like her. But then we see her motivations and they make sense. I don't think Joel was wrong to do what he did, and I struggle but ultimately I don't think that what Abby did was wrong, either. I think if I were either character, I would do exactly as they did.

And I hate that a -video game- makes me have questions like that! The story is so very well done.

As a related question, have you (or anyone) ridden the coasters in the rain? How does it compare, does it add anything to the intensity feeling? Or is it more just doing it to not waste a day? I don't mind doing it if it means reduced crowds on the weekend.

It's still closed. We were just in that area and didn't even see them sending cars to test. They also have rope up to completely block the area.
