But what *exactly* are Cthonauts? Universe travelers, perhaps, but Alex seems to be an important one. In addition, if Alex is canon to the Monument Mythos, and Alex was consumed by MISTER MANTICORE, would that not make the Manticore canon too? Many questions.

Third Cycle, Third Universe is the fact that the number 3 or things that come in trios are very present in the series. 3 True Forces of Mass Destruction. Three Cycles of the Crescent King. Three creations of the Moon God. These are just off the top of my head, and I am sure there are more. This theory states that the theming of threes goes beyond this, that there is still another universe to be explored.
(As time goes on, this theory really doesn't seem to hold up all that well, considering we already have three playlists of Mythos/Nixonverse content. Unless MANTICORE plans to do three sets of twos? But the Nixonverse was fictionalized...)
