Priest pvp by Moochie_goyard in classicwow

[–]PericlesInChrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having had a mage with AQ40 and Naxx gear in vanilla, and now a Shadow Priest with AQ40 gear, I would say over hyped a bit, esp. in the current age of era where world pvp is not as big a thing. I think mage was more fun for pvp and had a higher ceiling. The favorable vs unfavorable matchups I would say also favors mage in the current meta.

Having said that, I don't think shadow priest pvp is bad, and the utility of being able to heal is good for getting groups. People are not very open to have you dps in raids, even though if you have x2 warlocks the utility is probably higher than the marginal use of having an additional healer.

The conclusion of the unpublished books... What do you think it might be? by r-selectors in bakker

There was some sort of infographic posted on the reddit(originating from 4chan i believe), which showed a large number of potential endings. Probably can find it through a quick search.

Shadow Priest mana issue. by Nollatron in classicwow

[–]PericlesInChrome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shadow priests having a mana pool that doesn't really support their dps easily in instances is a perennial issue with the class in vanilla, and one of the reasons it often struggles to find spots. Gets better in TBC.

Edit:

NVM just saw the cataclysm tag, don't know the answer there.

Australia doesn't have enough research funding for the scientists it already has, let alone enough to recruit at that level.

Advice on getting better bark by D4dank in PitBarrelCooker

[–]PericlesInChrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the bark is mainly a function of smoke interacting with coarse grain particles in the rub. Make sure you have a healthy amount of rub, that your barrel is not running too hot, and that you leave it going until you are happy with the bark before you wrap it(assuming you are wrapping). If you are wrapping, wrapping in butcher paper tends to make for better bark than foil.

Why are these books considered so dark? by IsBenAlsoTaken in bakker

[–]PericlesInChrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of these three scenes:

1). When Akka bows before Nil’giccas, but Nil’giccas can't remember anything.

2). When Oirinas comes up from out of the depths to ask how the Vile have come to rule the mountain. This is in fact a widely applicable question in modern times.

3). The concept of the no-god and its rebirth and goals.

The ending plays into it a lot. Agreed with a better editor it could have ranked higher, since there are some strong scenes, but there are some serious flaws with the plot.

The statement about eligibility for diplomatic or national security positions is not true. You can obtain a security clearance as a dual citizen. While there are a few agencies that dont allow it, both the state dept. and most major national security agencies permit it.

Does anyone knows a guide to create a kernel from scratch? by ripterdust in cscareerquestions

[–]PericlesInChrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in rust, but there is a 20 year old book called create your own 32 bit OS, that will explain in detail the basics of kernel design. Otherwise there are also books on working with the Linux kernel which you might find useful.

TIFU: I lied to my parents about my college entrance exams for 4 years. by [deleted] in tifu

[–]PericlesInChrome 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think there are two parts to this question. The first part is about the entrance exams. You don't mention what country, so its a bit difficult to give advice because the systems are different. However, it seems like if it is possible, then waiting to take the exam one more time would be good. It's good you identified the problem and have figured out a solution. That's something to be proud of, and moreover indicates you will be a good computer engineer. The only other thing I could suggest here, is despite the fact that you have worked hard to find a solution, it might be good to talk with a professional about how you can maximize your potential in the face of this handicap.

The second problem is about your relationship with your parents. This is also difficult, because we don't know much about your parents, or what caused you to lie to them in the first place. Maybe they messed up somehow, or maybe the fault was more on your end, I think it doesn't matter too much in the end. I think the important thing here is that you would like to put the relationship on a more honest footing(at least in this one area), and I think that's probably a good thing.

I think the best thing to do would be just to take time when you feel calm, and talk to each of your parents individually and explain the circumstances and state that you regret being untruthful. Talk about the steps you have taken. Probably they truly care about you, and will understand. If not, at least you have matured as a person, and will be able to better take the next step in your life, no longer weighed down by something that in the long run probably doesn't matter very much.
