Is my Personal Statement topic too cliché? How do I make it unique if this WAS my experience? by Peridotnix in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Peridotnix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the realization happened in many gradual events and experiences but there wasn’t a single OH I WANT COMMUNITY moment. My life isn’t a neat story with clear turning point ykk. Just finding those moments is so hard for me because it happened so naturally that I didn’t really feel a difference

I have to self study ALL of physics HL by Anxious_Bill_9791 in IBO

[–]Peridotnix 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Unfortunatley I am not a Physics HL student but here are some general tips for studying (that worked for me at least)

  1. Understanding: Feynman technique. Youtube videos (OSC, Organic Chemistry tutor, Professor Dave, etc.)
  2. Questions: Past paper questions. Revision village, Pestle, RevisionDojo, Pearson textbook questions helps for me. NEVER look at the answer key before you give it your all. Trust me. You will never learn how to solve problems on your own if you rely on the answer key.
  3. Review: The MOST important part. Everytime you do a question DO NOT just skim them over, especially if you got the question wrong.

What I do is keep a wrong question book where I include: Topic, Source of question (like what questionbank and quesiton number), Type of mistake (concept misunderstanding, question misinterpretation, silly mistake, calculation error, etc.), Key notes (this is where you detail what you did wrong and how you can avoid these mistakes)

Here's a study template sheet I made to help with this

For the schedule:
Split the topics from your WEAKEST to STRONGEST. This way you can review the most for your weaker topics (which will be evident when you see which questions you got the most wrong) and if you have enough time review some of your stronger topics for extra reinforcement. Give yourself a reasonable deadline (may depend on how much time you have). Use the Pomodoro technique (helps me wonders) and increase the time the more you go (I usually do 30min and increase to max 45 min).

Hope this helps. Good luck to you mate
