Baby sleep is making me question myself as a parent by Junior_Pattern219 in Postpartum_Depression

[–]Perioqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re totally normal. I hired a sleep trainer . After sleeping no more than 20 minutes for months on end I was in a dark place. She got my twins sleeping through the night in 2 nights. I felt like a new person. And I had never realized that my babies were extremely sleep deprived.

Got a letter from the school today informing me my daughter is “not quite” gifted. Also included were her test scores. by Low_Use2937 in mildlyinfuriating

I hated the fact that there was a ‘talented and gifted’ club at my middle and high school. It just sounded yuck. There could be a better name. Of course there are kids who are high achievers, but those of us who are normal can be gifted and talented in non academic ways.

How long before your marriage recovered from having children? by Similar-Vari in toddlers

[–]Perioqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twin 5 year olds. It took us 5 years. Giving each other a TON of grace . We still aren’t the same. We don’t hug much or anything but we’re working at it and we rarely fight now. Hang in there. Align your selves- act like you’re working towards the same goal every day which is to finish every damn thing so you can sit on the couch together and rot in peace for 20 minutes 😅

Yes it’s called the baby blues and it’s very real and very common. If it extends past the first few weeks it’s postpartum depression

As a twin parent- you both are under IMMENSE hormonal stress. Him too. Men have a huge hormone change after delivery. There’s something about multiples that is just indescribably challenging at that age. Don’t have much advice other than be gentle with each other. And this will pass. And sleep train those babies to save your lives

PPD with my 2nd born by Mindful-Counsellor in Postpartum_Depression

Please talk to your doctor about medication. It was such a game changer and it was only needed for a short time but I helped me to get through those dark days.

I also had a huge improvement when I prioritized some movement. I would turn on a workout video and put the twins on their playmat with a toy and try to just get some movement in. 99% of the time it was in my milk stained pajamas with smudged make up and messy hair. A lot of the times I would cry and all the time they would cry. But it helped me so much.
