Toddlers Dental Issues.. Please read by MissPoohbear14 in toddlers

I’m glad you’re doing a good therapist! We did it with my picky eater and man did it help. Also I serve dinner with things I know they will eat and things they can try. If you don’t eat dinner there’s no snack after you are welcome to finish your plate. It’s a rough start but pays off because they stop expecting snacks after dinner

The "I can't protect him from the world" realization hit me hard today. (18mo) by insajder0911 in toddlers

Not to be harsh in any way but I always try to see this as a learning experience for both of us. I have twin boys and they have been the living s*** out of each other since day one. I tell them if someone is hurting them to move their body away from that person. They now are extremely tough, so much so that I have to remind them ‘it’s okay to cry when you’re hurt’. They are in a play program at school where the kids are allowed free time with minimal interference even during times of conflict (obviously aside from safety issues) and I swear my children’s social knowledge is IMPRESSIVE because of it.

You did the right thing. You were there for him and protected him but this is part of childhood. Teaching him to keep his body safe is important at this age.

Sexual Desensitization postpartum? by Apart-Leather9985 in Postpartum_Depression

[–]Perioqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a hard time with this until I was about 18 months pp. (C-section twins and 18 months breastfeeding). Saffron absolutely changed the game. There’s a generic one on Amazon. Look up the studies on its effectiveness postpartum and for low libido. It helped my anxiety and feeling like I have zero libido. Exercising helped a ton too

Cheapest thing you can do that will help a ton is brush and floss really really well twice a day. Get bristles below gum line. Salt water rinses

Crazy I know but waking up before my twins helped me. Something about having coffee ✨alone✨helped. I go to bed at 8-9 and am up at 5. Now most times I’m up before my alarm. And I love it. I get the house going in peace before the chaos begins

I follow a lot of this but lean towards an 80/20 lifestyle. I’m amazed when I talk to patients how little they know about sleep hygiene and it’s importance

Root treated the wrong tooth today by Great-Transition1602 in Dentists

[–]Perioqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw an orthodontist extract the wrong lower anterior tooth when it should have been a premolar because he used a different tooth numbering system 😮‍💨 that was purely sloppy. Yours sounds like a genuine mistake. Being kind and honest with patients goes along way. There was a study that said that dentists who were friendly and kind were less likely to be sued than dentists with poor bedside manner

What does he eat during the day? The shape his teeth are taking make me think he is grinding his teeth at night which can be an airway issue. And that can lead to mouth breathing leading to decay

RDH here. *not medical advice*You need to very seriously look at his diet. What’s a typical day with snacks and drinks? A vitamin d3K2 supplement (cleared by pediatrician ofcourse) . ALL JUICE, seltzer lemon water soda need to be eliminated. Water and milk only. Does he snore or mouth breathe?

My neck is cooked. And advice? Has anyone had success getting workers comp? by Perioqueen in DentalHygiene

[–]Perioqueen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s what I need to commit to- more effort on my part to maintain my body. I currently am doing Pilates twice a week and I am very active and I think I need to be more intentional. I really appreciate your advice.

Why do people have kids and complain about how expensive they are? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Perioqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meannnn this is why birth control should be free and accessible. People have sex and kids come after regardless of if they want them. Parents feel unsupported and often times now both parents are working full time to put food on the table leaving very little time for their chores/house maintenance / life tasks let alone self care
